I'ver been less and less enthused to fix my RC's each time I bash them and break them Each time it gets harder and harder to motivate myself to fix them. SO the question goes, how do you know when enough is enough? I literally have been seriously debating selling my Savage and T-Maxx and maybe my inferno. I hate to say it but I am finding myself in a similar boat as I was at paintball the last year or two that I played where the only thing keeping me in the sport was buying the latest gadget every few weeks. No wonder my expenditure for the last year was over $10,000. I am really thinking I might be heading into a similar type of pattern with my RC stuff.

Upon talking to my roommate about this his first question was what I was thinking about getting into. I honestly don't have a clue what I might get into for Act 58. I was thinking this evening about when the last time I touched my RC stuff for a purpose other than organizing my apartment and it was 2 months ago when Sky and I bashed and I bent my inferno's rear drive shaft, which is still just as bent as it was 2 months ago. Hell, I even changed my home page from RCNT to a pirate site.

Any thoughts would be welcomed.

It's like being married. If the love is not there anymore then it's time for a divorce. :sorry: It's the only example I could come up with.

WTF, you gonna bail on me EP? Dude, just go easier on the nitro, don't break as much and have fun.

Man, there have been times when I didn't touch my RC's for 6 months, then I pick it back up again for a month or 2, then drop it for 6 more months. It'll come and go. Sometimes, like now, you'll wish you hadn't of spent the amount of money you had on your "toys" and isntead wish you had it all saved. Even with that, I still pick them all back up eventually. I've been heavy into my T-Maxx for the last 4-5 months now. With all you have invested, it's hard to let go for the minimal price you'd get in return for selling them.
I used to play paintball pretty heavy....a hobby that is equally, wait, no I mean more expensive than RC, which is why I quit. I've still got all my gear though, and play occasionally.--(it's a damn good feeling splatting someone's goggles) Point being, unless you just NEED the money that bad, don't sell your stuff, you'll kick youself in the ass eventually for it. It might be a year down the road, but you'll kick yourself. One Saturday you'll have nothing to do and wish you could go to that new construction site and slam the Savage around at 40mph while people stop and ask you "does that thing run on gas?", and "what kind of engine is it? / look at that suspension" ect ect.
Box it up neatly and pack it away if you have to, you'll be gald you did, eventually.

I don't know. I do know the way I feel right now I just don't have the motivation to keep all of my RC's. Maybe I'll shell out a few thousand dollars and try building something even I can't break but honestly that's the means to an end as I see it.

LOL...this is the freakiest thing I have ever read from EP. Scary thing is that there have been moments where I have had those same feelings, but I sit down and tinker with one of the toys...and it is all she wrote. Right back into the groove.

EP, what we need is a good bash session. I know I am due for one. Plus I have this shiney new buggy that is just waiting to stomp some Pirate ass. Fix the Inferno and lets rock. What do you say?

If you're tired of it right now, take a break from it. Why do it if you're not having fun? Don't torture youserlf. Just like anything, too much gets old after a while. Take a break, you'll be back. We all come back:boxing:

What can I say to this. Crap, now I have to fix my Inferno and make Sky eat his words.

ya ep u dont want to sell ur rcs u want to keep them go bash with skyy itll be fun

That's the spirit...now to find time before I have to go away again.

I'll chat the info...but sooner than later.

I've done it and seen it done. You get interested in something and that's all you do. Everything is fine for awhile then you start getting sick of it. Eventually the stuff gets stuffed in the attic or basement and sits there gathering dust or is sold at a pretty good lose.
Just take a break and do something else for awhile.

Well, take if from someone that has had many...way too many hobbies. How can someone play 15 guitars at the same time or shoot 30 guns.

I would have to say for the first time in my life I have kept a hobby somewhat under control. That would be RC. I have made some modifications to my truck but nothing crazy. I like to bash around like the next guy but I don’t jump off cliffs, I just know that will break my truck. ( yea but it does make for some great video )

I do think there can be a happy medium between fun and obsession. I think another problem with this hobby is the my truck is bigger then your truck crap. I know there are things that I could do to my truck that will make it better and faster, but right now I feel that I am having just as much fun as the guy with the $1500 Bling Bling truck.

But under no circumstance would I ever sell my stuff. You will never be able to get it back and it will certainly cost you a ton to even get close to the gear you had.

I don’t know if any of the stuff I am talking about will help you make a decision in your case or for anyone else for that matter. But that is how I feel about the RC hobby.

i was and still somewhat am in the same boat as you EP . i think kwong was also in that boat a week or so ago. I'm thinking of selling my savage and just keeping the super, or selling the super and keeping the savage... i just am having a rough time keeping up on repairs just like you. its costin a fortune. especially being that i am at school and there is not a SINGLE HOBBY SHOP FOR 50 MILES ! ... i have to order everything from tower hobbies... and right now i need a 7 dollar part (2 ball bearings). and the shipping is a flat rate of 7.50 or something no matter what i get ... and it just gets frustrating. but once i play with them i know i like them... then the break again and i hate them... anyway

point is. whatever you do, keep at least 1 of your trucks or something. because youll never get it back ,and youll wish you had it one day.
