How do you know when you need a new clutch?

So, when do you need a new clutch?? Will they start to catch early or will they slip? Do the spring's wear out first or does the clutch shoes? I have about 3 to 4 gallons on the ones that came with my hyper pbs. I wonder if I need a new set?

thats super, sheesh. i wish i could get that. pull ur bell off and inspect what u have. prolly a good time to swap out for fresh springs and shoes. get the sportwerks clutch spring tool to save ur knuckles and headaches.

shoes get glazed, springs get weak and either the springs allow shoes to engage so early that it can bog or even stall ur motor. that or slip so much that shoes melt and lockup ur motor stallin it. u think its a plug or tuning, when its actually clutch packin in.

moreover all that time and no new clutchbell bearing. man. i'd say replace all that stuff now and get some performance back but also some piece of mind. good luck

Thanks for the message back. After reading what you said, it all fits; I've been having trouble tuning my 8 port...thought it was the pull starter; maybe it's the clutch?

I'll replace it and see what happens. Thanks!

can you tell us what part numbers those things are cause I'm lucky to get a gallon from a set of shoes and springs....I change the bearings after every day of running all day......

The clutch and springs I'm using came with the hyper PBS. I didn't realize that clutch springs and shoes can wear out so quickly. Plaid - can you tell me what you see that causes you to change your bearings and change the shoes and springs? Just curious....

One more thing - will any set of 3 shoes and springs work on a stock PBS flywheel (came with the 8 port). There seems to be lots of springs and shoes out in the hobby world.
