How do they survive?

Watching Petite Le Mans when I saw this that happend the other day during a practice session.

It's absolutely amazing how drivers can walk away from crashes like this.

Yes it is amazing! The cars are over built to take a crash but sometimes luck has to come with it too. I rolled a car when I was living in England. I went over twice and the worst I got hurt was punching out the side window to get out....car a mangled mess and I break a knuckle getting out of if after the fact.....
