I got one of those duratrax boxes and I can't seem to get the damn thing to start my new NTC3. Could I have tightened the clutch too much Please I am dying to start my NTC3

Ok - rule #1 with starter boxes (This is from the book of Me!)

Rule #1
Make sure the wheel is spinning in the direction required to ensure that it will make your flywheel turn counterclockwise.

Rule #2
Double check to make sure rule #1 was done

Quick question, is the wheel on the starter box touching the flywheel when you engage your starter box? If not them set your TC3 where the wheel on the starter box touches the flywheel.

Hahahahaha I let you have that one.But back to the problem at hand. I did put the flywheel on the wheel of the starter box. I also thought it might be a few things..
1.) BATTERY ON THE STARTER BOX IS WEAK..i AM CHARGING IT NOW.
2.) i TIGHTENED THE FLYWHEEL TOO MUCH
3.) i HEARD THAT HPI ENGINES HAVE A GRIP OF COMPRESSION SO THIS ALONG WITH ISSUE#2 MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM.

Loosen the plug a little, quarter turn or so

Full charge is good. I just went through and charged all my boxes for 24 hours each ;)

If the flywheel is not touching the case itself you should be fine.

Christian are you talking about the glo pug? Do you think I tightened the flywheel too much? I am also using a three shoe clutch set up if that matters.

Nahh The clutch should be fine and not pose a problem in this department.

Can you turn the flywheel by hand without the glo plug in?

Yes, the glo plug can be loosened slightly for starting. Especially in a new mill. Just watch your eyes. Fuel.

oh yes the fuel does bring a tear to my eyes... the clutch is hard to turn!!So should I loosen the plug?

Hard to turn is one thing - especially new. Is it possible to completely turn over by hand? (counter clickwise)

If so, then yes, loosen the plug.

Well I loosened it but doesn't turn very easy. Doesn't the flywheel turn CW when running?

No - Counter clockwise.

Well wait - depends on which way you are looking at it.

If you are looking at it head on then Counter Clockwise.

If you are standing behind the engine then yes, clockwise.

I am looking at it from the head of the engine and down. The reason I say this is because I look at the gears when they are in " forward motion" ( tires spinning forward ) I assume the flywheel would go in the same direction. Am I right or wrong?

No from behind but looking down

ok I will give it a go when the charging is done later today.
