Real big newbie here! got a rustler and wanted to put a .21 ofna engine to replace the stock .15. I have read that .21 are for 1:8 scale and mine is a 1:10 will it still work? The .15 dosent work anymore well it works with the glow starter on it great! lol but you take that off and it dies in seconds.. Thanks!

if its running with the glow starter in it then its running to rich.have you tryed to adjust the carb???have you ever changed the glow plug

Hmmm it can be done but it can be very costly to do it. I also have a wonder as to if the chassis can handle the torque of the 21.

i think so the one with the screw that you turn with your fingers i messed with that one a lot didnt seem to help. I wish i knew the names of the screws! lol

the one your talken about is the high speed needle (hsn) the one on the side of the carb the slide carb is the low speed needel (lsn)

sounds like to me that you need to lean out your lsn.turn in 1/8 turns at a time intill it will run with out the ignitor in it

oh if this is the trx>15 than turn the hsn all the way but don't over tighten.and back it out 3 and 1/5 turns out...

thanks zandor never in my life have i had better responses in a forum. usually it takes days! and i found the lhs will never think of helping a newbie that didnt purchase the car there! me and my brother both literally stumbled our way to this point and who knows what we are doing to our engines! he has an rc10gt that like my rustler stalls constantly and takes forever to start again. i guess i will still try to install the .21 hopefully we have go!

Since you are new, here's a little tip to help you with the carb. The HSN, or High Speed Needle, is the one that sticks up high. The LSN, or Low Speed Needle, sits low down, in the carb barrel.
Adjust the LSN for idle and up to half throttle. The idle screw usually also needs to be adjusted with changes in the LSN.
Adjust the HSN for full throttle.
I really wouldn't recommend the .21 for the Rustler. The 2.5 that it now comes stock with is a 'big block' .15, and the car is almost uncontrollable with that engine. It wheelies too easy, and punching throttle at a good speed usually flips it on it's back. The front is too light for that much power, and once it starts to come up, the wind gets under it.
This is a GREAT forum, probably the best on the net, and no matter what you need to know, you'll find someone here who will help you out.
