Ok, now that I hav my slash, I am looking to see if I can keep the truck in decent shape. If anyone can tell me what some good hop-ups I should really look into are I would greatly appreciate it. WoodiE sent me a site and said that I should look into getting Front A-Arms, Front Bearing Carriers, Rear Bearing Carriers and maybe look at the Front and Back shock towers. I have purchased a new bumper from my LHS.
I am looking to (down the road a bit) upgrade the motor and the battery pack to something brushless, but for now I am going to settle with what I have and make some highly suggested changes to make sure that when I jump my truck I don't just fall apart on the landing.

On a side note, I took my truck to work and for about 20 minutes I was in the parking lot playing with it out there. Man I love this truck!!:bling:

Go look in the crawler section for a few vids, NVM Follow this link.

Post # 4 is some guys trashing their Slashes with almost no damage at one of our comps., Well untill Chip (the big guy in tan shirt) decided to throw it across the parking lot, then it got a few scratches.

Not sure if there are many hop ups just yet because the rig is so new. But if you can find them, look for RPM front and rear arms and shock towers. Those alone are notorious for breaking on almost any rig. Trust me, one good oops and you hit a solid object you'll be replacing the front end. With RPM parts, they are backed by a lifetime guarantee and WELL worth the investment.

Another good thing about the slash, is that since the body covers the ENTIRE car, it will drasticly reduce in breaking parts.

TY! Yeah, WoodiE said to buy them that way I have a back up pair for those, just in case, and if I do need them then I have them ready and then I can just install the new one and order the replacement again that way I have a back for the back up LOL.

I thought that the cover on the truck was to flemsy to really be any true protection. So am I to understand that this body that is used now is a lot sturdier then some of the other bodies?

The body on that slash is VERY sturdy. They're all made from Lexan. If it wasn't flexible, it would shatter. You'll see when you're rig cartwheels sideways 9 times and slides on its lid, that the lexan is the way to go.

The slash is one of the first trucks of its kind with the tires tucked into the fenders, and that offers even more protection. They also have nerf bars on the sides for added strength. The slash is a more durable, more protective body than I've seen on any other RC so far. So don't be thinking that just because it's flexible it's weak.

Although there aren't a lot of products available for the slash, it uses arms borrowed from the Rustler and Stampede, so they're available from RPM. It also used the VXL transmission, if you need to replace the gears or anything.

I just picked up a Slash this weekend. I LOVE the truck. Smooth handling, good acceleration, durable. Traxxas hit the nail on the head with this truck. I dont see much reason to overly modify this truck. I had a Stampede that lasted 5 yrs before I sold it with little in to the truck at all. I have been waiting for my LHS to get them in stock and I picked it up on Sat. I am currently running it on a 7 cell 4500mah humpack.

Honestly, the only mod that I would do would be a brushless system, and upgrading the driveshafts. The suspension handles great for all around bashing and racing, and it's quite durable. The tranny is full of VXL internals, so it will handle the brushless power with no problem. The driveshafts twisting and popping off is the only problem I've seen the brushless systems cause.

What driveshaft would you get for this CharliesTheMan? I want to go brushless later on, but since I agree with WoodiE that I need to learn more about the truck as it is I will stick to what I have, but does not hurt to know what you want in the mean time. I can always ask Santa for it! LOL

3.3maxx, I could not agree with you more. This being my first one I really am enjoying it a lot. It is a fantastic truck!

I can say that with confidence, I couldnt say that with the maxx. If you search you can see I have the MOD bug. But I just dont see any reason with the Slash yet. I really need to get out and put her through a normal bash session, but from the front yard beatings she had this weekend she faired VERY well. Just the overall smoothness of the truck is a big + for me. I probably will eventually do a brushless kit, but for now on 7cell she runs great, I will end up waiting until the motor goes before I buy a brushless system

Every part of suspension, including shock towers and shocks, and bulkheads are the same as the Rustler. So there are plenty of hop ups available. I have the parts manuals for them all, so PM me if you have a specific number you need.....

So parts from the Rustler (except the ones you mentioned) will also fit the slash. Sweet. I will keep that in mind too. (Just in case I ever do need anything for the Slash.) I know I don't NEED those wheels that CharliesTheMan posted about, but I am planing on getting them for later use just in case these tires wear out pretty thin. :)
