The tip thing would bother me too. I'm not tipping some warehouse guy for doing his job. A waiter/waitress I can understand but that's about where it ends. Everybody's always got their hand out these days it seems.

Exactly, and it isn't like it is even the warehouse workers asking for it, it is the company I just placed an order with, and it is asked during the checkout process.

On top of that, as I mentioned with waiters and waitresses, it is understandable, but even in those situations, you give them a tip after they have done their jobs. That is how you know how much to tip them, you never tip a waitress for your meal, before you've been served, but that is what all of these delivery companies have been doing. The one thing I will say about that situation, they have now changed things, and are allowing you to add or edit your tip for deliveries, once the order has been delivered. At least then, you have the opportunity to not tip someone who gave poor service. Before that change was made, we had some of the worst, rudest delivery people I have ever encountered, and it was a real hassle, in some cases flat out impossible, to remove or edit your tip. Delivery drivers have had a real change in their performance and attitudes since they now allow you to remove their tip, at least in my area that is entirely true, across all services.

I paid a tip this time, because it caught me completely off guard, and honestly I was concerned about my not paying it having an impact on the shipping of my order. But, moving forward, I will not order from another company who does this. If that means I have to wait until my item is in stock elsewhere, then that is what it will mean, but I won't be doing this again. In this case, direct from Hobbywing was the only place to order that ESC, and as far as I can tell that 2300kv motor as well, next time I will just have to wait until Amain or anyone else has it in stock before ordering it.

Just a heads up to anyone thinking about ordering an R3, either the full system or just the ESC. I contacted Hobbywing, to ascertain approximately how long it may be, before they begin shipping them. I am not impatient, just trying to figure out if it will be worth my while to continue with the 1080 in the Capra, or just wait. She said my wait was expected to be 1-3 weeks, but her other statement is what I wanted to report here. Apparently they are selling like mad, as this is what she said:

Due to a high pre-order volume, we are experiencing longer lead times than usual.
Sounds more like an 'announcement' rather than a 'release'. :hehe:

I'm not sure I understand what this motor / ESC is for? Is it to be a do-everything setup or is it just for crawling? And why on earth would you want a 1700 kV motor on 6s for crawling? None of this makes sense to me, but I'm also old slow on the uptake. Y'all might want to do the math on that one and calculate RPM.

I received an email today, the same day I took the 1080 to HabbyTown to get that cable soldered, and was notified that the R3 ESC has shipped already, via UPS. Given I was just told on Thursday that my order was 1-3 weeks from shipping, it came sooner than I was expecting.

HobbyTown said they could not open the 1080, and told me the only thing they could do with that ESC was solder extensions onto it. I brought up that someone here had told me you shouldn't do that, and the guy said it was safe to do so, and actually suggested I do that over using the extension I had purchased. In fact, he used that very extension to solder into the existing cable.

So, I plan on loosely connecting things, so I can work on getting my radio setup, and verify functionality with it, fingers crossed, while I await the arrival of the R3 ESC, the motor was actually delivered today..

I forgot to mention here a new thing on my HobbyWing order for the R3, that I had personally not seen before. They asked for a tip for their warehouse people to be added to the total. This is bothersome for a number of reasons, but first and foremost it is bothersome because there is no way of verifying that money actually makes it to the warehouse people. On top of that, it is bothersome because it makes one feel as if your order may not get the same expeditious care, if you fail to pay said tip. Everyone asking for tips, for just doing their jobs is bothersome for a whole host of other reasons as well. The industries where tips are more than acceptable, are ares like the restaurant industry, where waiters and waitresses typically make less than minimum wage, making up the difference in with the tips they receive, or even delivery drivers, where the same thing applies. But tipping someone for simply doing their job, a job in which they are compensated to do just doesn't sit well, especially when, like in this case, there is no guarantee that money is going to make it to the people working in the warehouse, as the request for said tips states.

Sorry, off my soapbox now, but that really kind of bothered me.
Just saw this. A bit late, I admit. But really? A tip for a warehouse worker? I've done my far share of warehouse work. (when I was working my way through university) No way would I expect or ask for a tip.

You work in a warehouse cuz you like slinging boxes. If you don't like it, leave it. A tip? Insert Jabba the Hutt HAHAHAHAHA meme here.

The phrase: Entitled snowflake, is what comes to mind.

My biggest issue with the whole thing is that it is the company, on their website during the checkout process, who is asking for the tip. It isn't like a tip jar at a bar, or tipping a waitress. In this instance, it is the bar itself asking for the tip, without ever specifying who it is to go to. This creates a ton of issues,,, as I mentioned, if I don't tip could it slow down the shipping of my items? This who tip mentality we seem to see popping up everywhere is a problem for sure, especially when the tip is being requested before the service has been provided.

I purchased the ESC, but I paired it with a Gen 2 Axe 2300kv motor,, but never intend to use 6S on this rig. The R3 motor, or at least the only one released at launch (I haven't seen anything on if they have released any other motors in the R3 line), is huge, almost seems fit for an Xmaxx, but I have no use for such a big motor at the moment. So, I am just as puzzled by this motor/esc group as everyone else, not sure what it's intended uses are. I only wanted the Axe system, as it is app configurable, which I have used on my Gen8 Axe, and it is a nice system.
