Ok, i just went out and bought a 35 dollar servo thinking mabey that it would WORK! That word never seems to come to mind when i talk about my R/C cars. Almost nothing works right for me. Well, back to the servo... it came in today and i tested it and it worked fine. I put the HPI servo saver on and started to put it on my truck, HPI Savage SS, once i got it on it went f***ing crazy! I am so Pissed off right now because i didn't get a chance to use it and it broke. I would expect a 35 dollar servo from Hitec (HS645MG) to work! Can anybody help me to get it working PLEASE??I am about to smash this servo with a hammer:flaming:

You don't give us much to go on. Define "crazy" What Tx/Rx are you using?

I believe the problem is the HPI servo saver. It is ment for a Futaba servo. The number of splines is different between Futaba and Hitec. This could be part of your problem.

Which servo, throttle/brake, or steering? You also heve three choices for servo savers, each one is meant to fit a different servo, futaba, jr, hitec, etc. You need to be sure you have used the correct one.

If you are still using the servo saver for the steering servo that came with the SS, don't! Go buy a kimbrough, it will come with three spline adapters. Or better yet do the MP servo saver mod, and use a no saver on the servo itself.

Ok, it is used on an Airtronics Blazer Sport 2ch radio. I put it on my Savage for steering. I tried taking the servo saver of and it still goes crazy. I did use the right servo saver acording to the Savage Manuel(24 tooth). What happens is i turn it on and it centers but if I turn any more that a quarter of the way it will just go crazy back and forth, for about 10 seconds and then it will stop. Also I noticed that when i turn it on it centers, then i turn it off it is was to far to the right...like i can turn it 1/4 to the right and 3/4 of a turn to left. This servo is brand new...i just took it out of the box 1 hour ago. Thank you for responding quickly:bow:

I'm using rechargable AA's but the standard servo works just fine on the same batteries.

Rechargeable AAs will only give you 4.8 volts when fully charged, they are only 1.2v each, a set of regular AAs will give you 6v when new, a five cell pack will also give you 6v, but much longer run times at that voltage before dropping off. I have always run my hitek servos on a five cell pack. Try throwing a set of regular alkaline AAs in it and see what the results are, it still sounds like a voltage problem to me. How are the batts in the radio?

I tried it in the throttel channel and i have no control over it and i tried on a different one (i have two radios...i also have an RS4 3 SS) which has non rechargeable batts and it did the exact same thing. I'm lost...BTW it gets really hot...

Now it just sits there and shakes and gets really hot...what is the polarity??

Positive to psoitive and negative to negative (red to red and black to black) etc.

But in all honesty, it sounds like its cooked.

Could have been an out of the box failure. doesn't happen often, but it does happen. No matter who makes it.

Well... i guess your right, i'm gunna try to return it and get a new one...:(

i was just about to buy that same exact servo too!! u think its still a good idea?

I have heard a lot of good things about this servo, i think i just got a defective one, i would still get one but if you want i will keep you posted want happens, i'll see if i can get a new one if not...:flaming: oh well... i recharged the batteries and the whole radio is not working...i have never had good luck with radios, probably cause i got the cheapest one.

I run the hitec 645mg on my maxx for steering and the 625mg for throttle/brake.

I get twitching on my throttle servo regardless what servo and/or radio I've used. I have some interferance somewhere that I haven't found yet.

The 645 has held up very well to the abuse I've put it through. I've probably had it on my 21 maxx for about 3 gallons with no problems. My only problem is a twitchy throttle servo.

I did notice however, that when using the stock POS radio that came with the maxx that the servo's move a crapload faster than they did with my jr setup. Not real sure why, but the difference is really noticable. The movement of both servo's is almost instantanious with the Tq3 radio system. Never figured that out either, but I got rid of the JR setup with a trade I recently did for a stock maxx.

I don't have it anymore.

It was a JR xr2. I don't think it had a dual rate, but I couldn't be sure.

But as I said, I don't have it now, so it's no matter to me. I was just posting what I did know to try to help this guy out. To kind of prove that a bad servo or twitchiness isn't always what it seems.
