I'm no longer buying RC crap off ebay:angry:

They sale stuff pretty resonable but get your @ss with the shipping. I've had to pay on average, a mininum of 3.00 more on shipping than what it cost. Also, this whole 1.50 to add something a freaken postage stamp could mail is even more crazy. You would think someone selling multiple items to someone, would be a little more less @ss reaming to their customers....but hell no. I had to pay some idiot 20.00 on shipping for stuff you could fit in a flatt rate 7.50 priorty box. Ya, I know, I'm a freaken idiot for buying the stuff from them or you in the first place. I should become a vender and sale the parts at cost on ebay. It's not like I got anything else to do since I'm retired. blah blah...I guess I'll stop venting my stupidity mistakes.

They can definetaly nail ya on the shipping! Just gotta watch it before you buy. A few times I have talked with them in advance and worked out better shipping than what they offer on the auction. Some of the ebay store owners also have regular websites you can buy from that have better shipping rates as well.

It does suck, but a little planning goes along ways.

Was the shipping stated before you purchased? If not, tell him the shipping was to high and you aint going to pay it, or else mention it in his feedback that his shipping was a rip off. But if it was posted before, sorry to tell ya but thats your own bad. Alot of people bump the shipping up to make up for the cheaper price they sell it for. (.99cent Dvd with $10 shipping)

The shipping charges was in their auctions and this legit. So you really can't or sholdn't neg them for it. I usualy spend a ton of time researching people auctions but didn't think they would charge 1.50-2.00 to add crap like body clips for a freak mini T or connecting rods. I tried asking one person about the shipping and when it was all over I paid 22.00 doallers for stuff that shouldn't have cost over 7.50 to mail. Then on top of it, they made it into two seperate orders and I had to pay double paypal fees.

Now I will say I have found a few people who hasn't reamed my butt out over shipping.

I still think Bruce should partner up with me and have a West Texas branch ;) I wonder how he does that without a store anyways. They tell me I have to have a store in order to sale parts :(

A store or a website I think are Great Planes rules. There are other distributors but Great Planes is prolly the biggest in the US.

I feel your pain man, alot of people are starting to get sneeky in reducing the price of their items for a very low amount then charge $20 even $50 in shipping I've seen. In My opinion, any place that does that is trying to scam their customers and I wont buy from them. Even if the price WITH shipping is a good deal I wont do it because they are purposely trying to mislead people.

I charge actual shipping for items....I usually put a statement in my description about people doing that are scum and I wnat no part of it.....I try not to deal w/ stores on e-bay....I'd rather support my local shop and then after I think I've spent enough I hit em up for a discount.....works out better since those are the people who make your local RC scene what it is.....the local shops set up tracks in your neighborhood...they 're the ones who will fight city hall if some old bag get's a wild hair across her ass and decides to get nitro RCs banned because her friggin cat is older than dirt and can't handle the noise....when was the last time Tower or Acehobbies set up a track in my area???? or your's???? they give good rates but I've found most LHS will match Tower prices anyway....I really hit em hard if I need something ordered......just remember it's the same as the whole buy it from China crap.......we give someone else our money and don't think of what id does to us locally.....

Yeah Plaid I agree with you about buying from your lhs. Lord knows I spend enough money in there, and like you said, you spend enough money in there you will usually get a discount. Afterall they want to keep you happy so that you keep spending money in there store. My LHS is like my second home. They have built a nice track out back, and we all pitch in to help keep it up. I definitely try to get my stuff from the lhs before I go online. I do occasionally buy things off the internet but usually I can get a better, or matched price right in my own back yard. SVOray, it stinks about your shipping charges, they can definitely stick it too you at times. Anyway just my :2cents:

Since I've moved I have 2 choices on LHSs.

1-Go to the chinese lady 20 min from home who is only open for 4 hours on Sat and closes at 5 during the week (I work 8-7 during the week and have to run chores for my father Sat morning since my mother died) she has good prices but poor selection and can hook you up with part numbers off the top of her head like its nobodys business but doesn't know anything about actually running an RC car/truck/plane/heli/or otherwise.
2-Go to a proper hobby shop with tons of parts and tons of knowledge but they RAPE their customers. They are typically $10-$20 more expensive on parts and $100-$300 more expensive on Kits. Example, bought a blank body for my RS4MT...$45, Foam shoes for my LD3...$65/pair, and a new RS3000 receiver...$80. I'm my opinion they only care about the $$ and not the hobby.

So While I still beleive there is nothing better than a good LHS that cares about their customers, I unfortunatly dont have the option of one to support.

It's 20+ miles one way to my local shop :( It gets pretty high making that run with a truck you have to run 91+ octane and gets 12-14mpg city and 14-17 mpg hwy. The guy is ok but questional in my books...I mean 25 bux for a glow plug and then he tells me to run with out it after it starts up if I want to extend the life of it. I still haven't figured out how a Nitro drives around with out a plug:ponder2: but oh well. Now he sales the GP for 4.00 a pice...or maybe he reallizes I now know more than what I did when I first walked through the door?

Anyways, I'm reading up on their policys next time before I buy anything and asking them about multi auctions won. I like one stop shopping...it's easier.

Sorry about the venting

Don't worry about venting.. I do it all the time. It is good for the soul. It is unfortunate that we all don't have that great hobby shop right down the street. The internet is a great place to shop. Like you guys said, sometimes that is the only choice some of us have. It just stinks that some folks online are out to decieve. Heck I am sure there are a few LHS's that have shady folks running them. I just hope I didn't come off saying the Inet is a bad place to do business. It can be a great place to get a great deal. I am just fortunate to have a decient LHS right down the street. Sorry if I upset anyone.

I liked the lhs where I purchased 3 rc's. He was higher priced, but the service and knowledge were indispensable. He has now closed up and the local franchised shop raised their prices about to where his were to start with. The guy that runs it and his main man are cool and will deal some, but the kids he's got in there at night are worthless. One of them spent 20 mins last weekend convincing me that 30K was 3000wt, all the while I had the 3000wt already in my hand. I baught it and will return it when the boss is in!

There nice to have around in an emergency, but thats why I shop online.
(shipping fees generally are less painful than dealing with yahoo's)

SM - $121.79 to me!

119.51 for me :OMG:

My local LHS is selling a nicer version of that truck and wants 1000.00 bux for it. I'm not sure I would spend that much for any one RC vehicle.

It's not hard to drop $1000.00 on a nice Clod, a full set of JPS axles or $600.00 plus. But the truck in the auction is nowhere near that, $165.00 shipped is pushing it.

The worst I've done was charge 25 cents over the shipping rate. I can usually figure right in the ballpark by packing up the item for shipping, measuring 2 inches over each way, and adding 2 pounds. Believe it or not, it nails the shipping rate dead-on. Something about USPS's shipping rate calculator that makes it off... Perhaps their site is running on an old first edition pentium?

SVORay,

Thanks for the feedback - I'll pass on your comment to Bruce, maybe he can make a few changes to make your experience even better.
