Hi!

I currently have a Thunder Tiger Twister 2wd stadium truck.
I have had it for 3-4 years, although it is still in my garage in as new condition! :s

It runs ok'ish, but the main problem has been rear diffs, its had new bits here there and everywhere but still doesn't run very well :(

I'v started to give up and consider upgrading to something more reliable that wont give me as much hassle.

I have radio gear, glow start etc, what kits could you recommend?
The new HPI Firestorm looks nice?

2wd/poss 4wd stadium truck pref, no more than £250.

I had a Thunder Tiger DT10 and had nothing but trouble, never really ran for more than a tank before something else broke, and i went easy on it. I then got a HPI Savage X. Compared with the Thunder Tiger it is muck better, can take a real beating without breaking. I know the Savage is a bit pricey but you would think if HPI make one good car their others must be good and robust as well. I suppose like with anything you get what you pay for.

I'm considering ebaying the thunder tiger and an electric Kyosho I have, doubt i'l get much for them but it'l help funds for the replacement :)

Anyone had experiences of the HPI MT2 18ss? Has good reviews on the net, looks like a good compromise between the rush evo/firestorm and a savage, in terms of price/reliability and performance?

Any help appreciated :)

I think the HPI Firestorm is an rtr but looks sweet and migt be my next rc. The HPI Hellfire=devil [thats the name] is supposed to be a good kit. Are tyou a racer or a basher???
 
ha I'm new to this, I imagine bashing is just messing around in carparks, fields etc?!

I dont intend to race so it would just be used for messing around.

Hellfire is a very nice bit of kit but abit out of my price range :(

Firestorm does look gd but just wondered whether paying the extra for the mt2 or mt2 18ss would be worth it?

I'm fairly mechanically minded but have had endless trouble with a Thunder Tiger stadium truck that I bought 2-3 years ago :( So i'm hoping whatever I go for would be alot more reliable, easier to tune and durable?

Any advice/comments are appreciated.

Do you have a LHS near you? If so, go see what they have and what parts they carry. If your eyeing a 1/10 stadium type truck, you will need parts support as a basher.

If you do have a LHS, go check them out and see what they have. Let us know and we could help you from there if your still unsure.

As a basher, 4wd will be much more fun. I had the HPI NMT (Mt2's predecessor) and it was very weak. The MT2 is built much better. It has a slipper, actual bumpers/skid plates, larger engine, better spur gear... I think they still run a crappy needle bearing for the CB though. I fried that pretty quickly when I had a OS 18 CV-R in mine.

My lhs is a HobbyStores. I dont think they stock HPI, I dont mind ordering parts via the net. My current Thunder tiger has had many mail order parts :(

I am quite keen to go for a m2 18ss or a firestorm. Mainly because i'v heard the reliability and availibility of HPI parts is very good. I am swaying towards 4wd as it'd be good fun and a slight upgrade from what I have at the moment. I am happy to build the kit up and am willing to put the effort in, but have had bad experiences with my nitro thunder tiger and I want to be sure this doesn't happen again if i fork out on another £200 kit :s

HPI's are a good truck but i would recomend a rc10 gt parts are everywhere and you can bash around or get serious about racin.
 
Thanks, I shall look into the rc10gt, i'm not too fussed about having a truck i can race, just one that can be used well and is reliable + durable. Which has'nt happened with the Thunder Tiger I have atm :( Going to attempt to get the Thunder Tiger running again, if I dont have much luck i'l look to invest in a better quality kit :)
