Well that sucks his post ended. I sent him a message asking if he was going to relist them back on ebay for the same price. He is selling them for $499 on his website.

From the comments on the site, it appears the HK version is a Rovan SNG.

Be aware though that there are a few things you might as well buy and have on hand. From what I've read the servos take a poop pretty quickly in many cases and the radios have been reported to have crappy range. Personally the Rovan is on my list of "what's next". There's is a Guy who always has them listed on rcuniverse if you want to take a closer look. Is it a HPI, no. What it is is great bang for the buck for those of us who:
A. Can't afford to drop a grand at one time

And/or

B. Don't know if 1/5 scale is for them.

The hobby kings dont come with servo's or tx/rx so thats cool in a way, upgrade the servo's right off the bat basically.
I've read a few places now that they come from the same exact factory as the HPI's. I wouldnt be suprised at all if that is true.

Theres alot of rumors that the rovans, king motors, and other clones are made in the same factories but so far they've all been debunked. Also when comparing alot of the pieces there is obvious quality differences and even appearances in finish such as (may have this backwards) the plastics will be shiney on the clone with a matte appearence on the HPI. I say for the price it's worth the gamble. We all know it's not a matter of if but a matter of when you break stuff in this hobby.

Edit: keep in mind i have yet to read much on the hobby king versions.

I've been reading all day lol. I've never been a fan of off brand at all, but in this case I might be open minded for a change. I've also been looking at hobby kings 1/10 sc trucks. I've watched a bunch of videos on them today and they run great as well as look to take alot of abuse AND have all the replacement parts available, not just hop ups.

I sent the ebay seller a message asking if he was going to repost the baja for $450 shipped. He said not at the moment and refered me to his online store where he sells the exact same car for $499. I also asked him if I bid on a won one of the many bajas that he is selling if I could pay him this friday. Auction ends tomorrow and in his listing it says you must pay him within 24 hours of winning the auction. He wouldn't even let me go a day 1/2 to pay him. Oh well he just lost a customer. Don't see how has 100% positive feedback if he is not willing to work with people. I just can't see myself spending an extra $50 on something I knew was selling for cheaper atleast at one point and may possibly be re listed again in the future.

Thats the cheapest one I've seen too that comes rtr. $500 is still cheaper than most of the other sellers though.
