I can see 'em coming already, two seasons that converge at the same time and bring dread (at least to me):

MOWING SEASON!

ROAD CONSTRUCTION SEASON!

Hey, I welcome the arrival of warmer weather as much as the next guy, but already, along the major interstate highways that cut through my fair city, the dreaded barrels are being staged, ready to cut the flow of traffic! If you listen carefully on a calm day, you can almost hear the asphalt grinder chuckling to itself!

And today, as I'm walking around the yard getting an idea of the maintenance load I have to deal with on the house, I notice the grass starting to green up in a few places. Next thing you know, I'll be cutting the grass every 43 minutes just to stay on top of it!

I'm psyched about the upcoming racing season and hopefully getting some more road time on my Harley, but along with the good comes the bad!

So, my brothers, crack a cold one and dust off the Toro with me! It's gonna be a great Spring (which, by the way, starts tomorrow I think!)

I've already had to mow..... my grass never stopped being green!! and around here there is never no construction. in houston its not if you hit traffic or constriction, its when and how bad.....

oh well, spring is here, (like i had a winter!!!) yay!

Man, I have had to mow the property around here 4 times already!!! Consider yourself lucky, cause it looks like #5 is coming up this weekend!

I hate the fact that all my neighbors are retired...Their yards are always cut...By the time I get off work...It is time for those late afternoon spring storms that wreck any plans for yard work. Anyway I am still looking at about 4 weeks of being yard work free....

This weekend will mark the 5th time I will be mowing lawns since last month as well.

I can't wait to get the hell out of california. I do think its funny that we have had a record low rainfall season and today we got less than a 1/8 inch of rain and people are bitching and moaning because there cars got jacked up. I just laugh at these dumb ass people, just wait till summer out here were going to have so many wild fires were going to hotbox the midwest. LOL. But just think of it this way guys now you can bash around the yard or break in the new winter projects!

Nener-nener-nener!!!! :p:

We have an association that does EVERYTHING at our HOUSE (Not a condo or apartment) Cut, plant, trim, mow, edge, watter.....

All I have to do is call and bitch if I don't like something. And of course, pay the bill.

Not spring here yet, still over a foot of snow everywhere, and temps around 32 degrees.

Yep... it is getting closer and closer. I have about 2 acres to cut, and then my grandmother-in-law makes me feel guilty about not cutting my parents-in-laws lawn while I am at it. My mother-in-law told me that she'd rather cut it, but I hate it every time I am finished cutting our grass I look over and think I should be cutting their 3 acres. Especially when I am finished the grass and I bring the RC out to play and their grass is still uncut. I hate feeling guilty over something I shouldn't be feeling guilty over. At least the road construction is not that bad here... I live in the sticks, but every time I have to drive to DC and points north... I really hate it.

We're talking of running outdoors at the club this weekend if it stays dry! Woo hoo!!!! Doubt it though, prolly one more week of indoor and then out!

You could buy a goat! Then you just took care of a whole years lawn mowing. And you can multi-task the goat and use it as a garbage disposal.

Yeah, looked pretty green when I was around there last week. (I drive to Napa at least once a week). I'm glad I'm not the only one. Ed, you are one lucky bastard. :ninja:

Plus one for htis comment......I live in the sticks.....and well I do not own a mower.......just a whacker my boys use in the summer to keep the wilderness fgrom overtaking the house.....ah the country....oh and no construction either....:celebrate3:

And here I was expecting a wabbit season/duck season thread!

Seriously; I know that feeling; the state is finally getting around to widening our stretch of the I5 corridor from 2 lanes to three (2 lane interstate?!?), from Corning all the way to CSL (about a 100 mile stretch). That means a painful 2 years of traffic, 3 if Caltrans doesn't strike.

This area is growin up; soon it'll be like the LA of the 50's.

Did that in college actually, we had to put him on a 15' lead and stake him in different spots of the yard. Otherwise he would eat all the weeds first and then take off with the horses when they were in the pasture.

Mine needs mowed right now. Got some pines I need to cut back.
I have about 3/4 of an acre. Mom has 6 acres. Her mower was on it's last leg and I have been looking for another.
She is wanting a garden. I told her I would help.
Weather has got both of our driveways. I can get mine with 2 or 3 loads in the Dodge. Hers is going to take 5 or 6 tandem loads. The backhoe is missing real bad and just barely runs. Maybe an injector, maybe the pump?

Could name a lot of other things.

But I love sitting on the deck, drinking a cold one, and being able to cook out without watching the grill through the back window.
I'll get a little bashing in before long. Don't figure I'll fly any. But I'll be at the field some. Maybe help them with their cooking.
I'm looking foward to some target practice. Had some great weather in January and shot all the shells I had.
Might do a little fishing this year too.

Spring is a bitch with all the work. But being able to get outside is great!

I got another 6 inches of that white poop yesterday, and 10 this past weekend. I can't wait to welcome the lawnmower and the flagger guy on the street!

i HATE road work....traffic makes me crazy today i ran over at least 1/4 mile of cones boy it felt good......

I'm like Beason...my lawn never really dies, the winter just slows it down LOL. For some weird reason I actually enjoy it this spring, I spent hours trimming and mowing this past weekend.
