my nitro rustlers brakes dont work that good. The servo turns the throttle easily but i bearly pulls the brake rod. It will stop but it takes about 25 to 30 feet. Can anyone help me?

Either your brake pad is worn out or you can try to adjust the little collar that is attached to the servo linkage. Undo the little set screw that holds the collar on the linkage and move it in just a bit, this will engage the brakes harder. There are 2 of these collars on the linkage (at least this is the setup on my t maxx), the closer together the collars the harder the brakes apply. You will have to try to fine tune how hard you want your brakes to apply.

Hope this helps

okay so i messed with the throttle servo and did a little adjusting and i got the brakes working good. Man this is my first nitro car and i love this thing

This is about the only thread I have found about braking issues. The last time I took my t-maxx out the truck wouldnt brake good. To the point that the brakes would not stop the vehicle. They would keep it from rolling at an idle but any more speed and they wouldn't stop it.

When I finally got my Revo setup the other day, the brakes did the same as my t-maxx except they would stop the truck but only after about 15 feet. Neither would lock up like they should and its quite dangerous lol.

So I have adjusted and tightened and everything, if I engage the brakes by hand and try to moved the truck they will lock it up but it takes quite a bit of pressure to do so. The pads and shoes look fine, so I am stumped as to what the problem is. Surely they are not already worn out, could getting them wet when cleaning the truck have anything to do with this?

Any suggestions?

So you adjusted the 2 screws that hold the brake pads to the trans? And adjusted the little collars on the linkage? If you move them closer together, then you will get more pressure applied to the brake disc. I had this same problem, so I took that piece of clear tubing off of the linkage arm so that the collar itself pushes against the servo horn instead of the collar pushing agaisnt the tubing and that made a huge difference! I can stop on a dime now:D. I think that the piece of tubing there was too squishy and did not let the linkage push hard enough to engage the brakes.

I think that getting the pads and brake disc wet would prevent it from stopping alittle bit, but not so much that you couldnt stop at all.

Hope this helps, let me know.

I thought about taking the piece of rubber out but I never had a Problem with it in before...I have the linkages setup so that there is just enough room for the pads to not rub the disc. Ill see about taking the rubber out and all that. Thanks for the help, I'll let u know if it works.

I didnt have any problems with my maxx at first, but then I replaced the brake disc and pads, and noticed the exact same problem that you are describing. My Tmaxx would just keep going, and at high speeds, I would almost have to send it into a barrel roll to get it to stop!!:whhooo:

You have to set up the collars so that there is not too much play between the collar and the servo horn, so that it "catches" pretty much as soon as you brake on the transmitter.

I know, this is a real pain in the a**!!
