my friend gave me his old nitro RC car (ofna ultra lx comp) i took it to a local track it was a little muddy that day and well it landed in a puddle and it cut off. i let it dry for few days and tryed starting it again it cut on thankfully but the servos were messed up though and i let it sit for a year (did'nt feel like buying new servos) and i tried starting it today and it wouldnt start. i went to the local hobby store got some new gas, servos and still wouldnt start. the glow plug lights up but i can't figure out whats wrong. any advice would be great thanks

Engine maybe?

Prolly something like engine problems. You can't let it set out for a year and expect it to have zero problems. Try taking it to the hobby shop and asking them. Thats what I would do :D

Probably large amounts of corrosion in the carb and engine. Your best bet is to take the engine completly apart and clean in out with WD40. It'll probably fire after that...maybe.

okay, well i cleaned out the engine it had allot of excess fuel but i cleaned that up. there wasn't any gunk in there thankfully. i put it back together and tried starting it. it was so close to starting. but it wouldn't i'm not positive if the carb is set right or not... if any one knows a good link to tune a 'ofna ultra lx comp' that would be great thanks!

Does the engine have a purple head and .26 on it?
If it is trying to start but isn't, lean the LSN in 1/8th turn in.
This engine says Hot Bodies but it is made by Ofna, it's the same thing as what used to come in a lot of Ofna buggies. It has all the correct default needle settings in the description.

ok thanks ill give that a try tomorrow. yea it fires and some times the wheels will even move but it will never actually start

also were is the midrange needle on this engine? if someone had a diagram that would be great. I've looked for one but no luck. thanks!!

It's on the carb below the HSN. Don't touch it. Your's may be the version that the carb does not have a MSN.

ok yea i messed around with the needles i was so close to getting it to start but unluckily couldn't. but i think i know the problem. Around here the avg temperature is 60 deg. and if I'm not misstaken I'm using a hot glow plug so I'm gonna run out and pick up a cold one:) and see if that works

If the wheels are spinning before it actually starts, the clutch may be broken. See if it spins free before you proceed any further. A broken clutch will cause all sorts of issues,

yea every thing spins freely from what i can tell. but i still couldn't get it started. if the the bump box isn't spinning fast enough that could cause it not to start, right? not sure if thats it, but i think i might just take it down to the hobby store (hobby town U.S.A.) and see if they can get it started.

and THANKS for all the help!!:D
