I just got my car today, and the seller said that all I needed was batteries and fuel, so I assumed that I had everything I needed. Instead, I'm stuck with no glow plug heater. Can I make a makeshift one? My brother put a 9V battery against it and it immediately got hot, but I have no way to get the battery's energy into the plug while the plug is in the engine. Do you have any tips?

I would suggest just going and getting a glo ignitor. By the time you make one properly you could have gone to the LHS and picked one up.

The other option would be to get a 1.5 hobby cell and wire it to a stock glo wire (like the one on the tmaxx).

Man...dont try to make a homemade one it could screw up the glo plug. Just run down to your hobby shop and get mad at them for misleading you and ask for a discount on the glo igniter. Other wise its about 10 bucks or more for a good one with a glo plug guage-SP but its worth it. Try not to break that glo plug or your gonna spend more time and money getting a new one.

Heck ya man. A normal glow igniter runs at about 1.2v and that's alot lower than an 9v. You may fry eggs on that glow plug. LMFAO Just go buy one, it's alot better in the long run. :)

The store was closed at the time, and I was a bit overenthusiastic.

When you get one, I would recomend getting the "Long" Type. I think you are talking about on road cars, but you never know what you'll want later. The longer Glow warmers work for anything and they are great for using a bigger body like a Surburban or the big Hummer. You don't need to remove the body to start it then. You may not have that body type now, but you might want one later. (It'll save you from getting one later like me!)
