Help With Wheels

I just recieved a duratrax axis for christmas and i already had to buy a new set of wheels because while breaking in the engine i hit a curb in the neihborhood and broke the front air damn thing and broke the front right wheel aLmost in half. My question is. Can i buy some metal wheels of some sort aluminum, titanium, instead of this plastic crud because it is not holding up very well to my newbie driving habits. this thing is fast and until i get the hang of controlling it i feel that if i don't find a stronger alternative to the plastic wheels i will end up spending a ton on wheels and tires. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

Yes, you ccan buy metal wheels. They are gonna be more expensive too. They lok like they would be hell a heavy though so its not my style. Plus they will scratcha nd scuff up quie a bit a presume. I'm prolly not the best at this so someone please shed some light on the subject to let me know if I've gave false information

Zaang it's kind of up to you if you want aluminum rims. I have been holding off on them personally since if they break you will be out quite a bit of money. It's a little cheeper to replace plastic rims and such. This is just my opinion and of course how I feel about it. There is a guy that posts on the board who owns ans operates www.ramtech-rc.com they will have your aluminum rims most likely. Good luck though.

ramtech has some nice wheels but all they carry are 14mm hexes mine are 19mm any other suggestions??? ramtech does have some cool stuff if you have the 14mm hexes though

These dish wheels are really strong and they are plastic, you will bend them out of round before you ever break one

are you sure your hubs are not 17mm Zaang? 19mm is the outside of the nut I think. Maybe I am wrong hmm. That would bite if Duratraxx made them a different size than all other 1/8 buggies.

It attaches to the axle with the set screw, and attaches to the wheel with an aluminum nut. This nut is 19mm; the Inferno series is 17mm." I would look into see if you can put a 17mm hub on you Axis as that is the standard for all other 1/8 buggies as far as I know. Good luck.

thanks alot i will look into those meanwhile anyone else have anything you think i might need especially for stonger wheels let me know. also there is a part on the front that looks like an air damn and i have already broken this part twice as well and behind that where the hinge pins for the suspention are i broke off a piece of that as well and will need to replace that if anyone else has an axis or understands ewhat i am talking about let me know.

Not fair to call the plastic wheels "crud". The majority of the market is plastic. Sounds like you're trying to cure the symptom and not the cause. Stay away from those curbs. As many of us know, they always win in the end.

out here where i live there are very few open areas in which to run. curbs are gonna get me even if i just clip one. it would be nice to not have to buy new rims every couple of days.

Alu rims doesn't break but they bend so you will also have a problem if you hit it at high speed. I'll use Aluminum weels in my monster only due it has big tires that protect the rim but never in a buggy.
