I'm not new to nitro engines, this is my fourth one, but I'm having a difficult time getting it to idle. I know the first thing everyone is going to say is check my needle settings. Trust me I have, over and over, I've tried them everywhere. It's running fine, it just won't idle down. If I set my idle screw any lower it stalls. It's even a little rich on the low speed needle, but if I lean it any more it revs higher. I've messed with the mid speed needle to see if that would help but still nothing. I noticed that it comes with a super hot P3 glow plug, should I try a cooler one? I understand how to tune engines just fine, but this ones got me puzzled. I just can't seem to get the idle in the sweet spot, it's either reving way to high, or it's so low it stalls. I can't find an in between. Let me know what you guys think. And if you need more info just let me know. In fact it's an HPi Rs4 3, with an RD logics T-max pipe. And my tz has the 3 needle slide carb. thanks again.

try leaning the hsn and closing the idle a little.

see if it reacts any different when you push the throttle closed.

Is the engine new? if so, this might be just a growing pain while breaking it in. My Omega .21 drop in acted completely different after I broke it in and my S-25 did the exact same as my omega.

Check your throttle. It may be binding a little bit. That can be cured by just repositioning the carb a hair. A good way to find it's most natural plane of action is to loosen the retaining bolt to where the carb can move on it's own when the throttle is applied. Squeez the trigger on the radio and that's the best position (if it's a slide carb). For the rotary carb, you just have to eye it and keep adjusting manually.
