I'm new to nitro cars just picked up a Warhead evo and I can only get it to run about 5 min and the it just quits and when I check the glow plug and its shot. Happened 3 times I'm using ODonnell #99 plugs almost 10 bucks each so I really hope I can figure this out soon.Seems to run pretty good when it runs. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks...

Just a guess, but could your air filter be dirty? Check to see if the exhaust is spitting out alot of fuel. If it is, you're either too rich, or the filter needs cleaning.

If it's not spitting any at all, richen it up just a hair.

Also, you may want to invest in a cheap temperature gauge.

i have a really really good plug in my savage.idk what they are. I've used the same one for about 2 gallons + break in and its still lookin good. next time i go to my lhs ill have to look.

odonnells are good plugs but dont waste your money on expensive plugs when you are still going through the first processes of your truck, such as tuning or break in... the way i see it your still breaking in your engine with crappy plugs as much as you are with good plugs...

but most likely it is the tune, it most likely is running a bit rich because most factory needle settings on the cabuerator are set rich for a cool and lubed break in so your engine does not sieze!

the first thing i would check is if it is running real hot after that 5 minutes. if so the plug is fowling because the engine is running to lean

or on the other hand if you have excess fuel or tons of oil coming out of your pipe you are running to rich which usually is the problem of a fowled plug, if so just lean it a bit!

you really need a temp gum to check if its over heating. and check you fuel line to see if there any holes in the line. is there lots of smoke coming out of the tail pipe. you may need to adjust the curb. and this is a thought your plug may be to hot. they have different kinds hot, med-hot, med , cool.

thanks for the replies I kinda figured it was rich but I'm totally new to these nitro trucks so I guess its a little trial and error. I'm taking the truck to the local nitro hobby shop he said he will help me with the tune.
Thanks Blacky....

Make sure you have him check over the air filter too. A restricted air flow can cause the engine to be artificially rich.

Also, it could be possible that there are little shards from the new engine(if it's new). I believe that this can also be a reason for ruining glow plugs. Personally i have been quite lucky so far with my car. about ten tanks through and not one change yet (touch wood). However, the tip never seems to want to glow for some reason..... The plug warmer is fully charged and i have tried it with different plugs...
