I was driving my brothers truck which has a new engine in it, barely even broken in, it is on its 5th tank, and i accidentally drove it into a puddle that was deep enough to completely submerge the engine and drown it out. What should we do as far as preparing the engine and precautionary measures. The air filter and glow plug were removed and all the water was driven out to the best of his ability. should we take it apart and do anything to it or just let it dry. we are very afraid of corrosion and rust, i had the idea of setting the carburetor to run the engine just about as rich as it possibly can to lube it up very well after it dries over night. Just a thought, PLEASE give positive, constructive suggestions.
Thank you.

Blast it everywhere you can reach with WD-40. WD actually stands for "Water Displacement".
Take off the back plate and blast it all over inside there too.
Check all your electronics for water.

I would tear it down, clean it, lube it, and reassemble. If you think that's too much, at a minimum, I'd use plenty of WD-40 while turning it over and make sure it gets into just about every crevice of the engine.

I forgot about the electronics, check those as well.

thank you! use WD-40 instead of Nitro fuel? I have tons of WD-40 at my house but I read also to use nitro fuel, wondering which method is better, the fact that WD stands for Water displacement makes sense :) thank you for such quick response! I plan on taking off the head and removing the sleeve, removing the carburetor as well, and backplate, soaking with WD-40, and then blowing it out very low pressure with air compressor. sound good?

Make sure to get the bearing in the engine really well, you don't want any water left in there.

So we removed everything and flushed it out. everything seems normal, but still feels like its flooded/a lot of compression. When the glow plug is removed, it sounds and feels like it had before without a plug in it. Letting it sit over night and will try again tomorrow. (it did run briefly) if not we will open it up and clean it out again. Our first job seemed very thorough. Worst case scenario... I buy him a new engine.

my nugen took a dive and the elcetronics were fine but you can take apart the receiver and the servo just to make sure and spray servos with WD40 let dry reassemble . I did let mine sit for about a week before testing them .and they still work.As far as the motor goes i took of the head moved piston to bottom left back plate on filled with WD 40 and let sit over night drained filled again and turnd motor over slowly by hand to make sure to work the WD 40 into everything ,drain remove back plate and check it out.

a little bit of work will help save a lot of $$$$$

Do not just start replaceing things just because they get wet as long as you don't try them while they are wet you should be ok

Like a cell phone when it gets wet take bat out compleately cover phone and bat with rice for a couple of days and usealy good

Since the engine is new I would try to get a replacement through hpi. It's better than buying a new engine and should be your last resort. It does sound that by cycling wd40 through the engine you should be ok.
