mensa - The top surface of an altar

Thats the last definition.

If you don't know what an altar is, here:

Altar - An elevated place or structure before which religious ceremonies may be enacted or upon which sacrifices may be offered

Wait...

What is Mensa?

Mensa was founded in England in 1946 by Roland Berrill, a barrister, and Dr. Lance Ware, a scientist and lawyer. They had the idea of forming a society for bright people, the only qualification for membership of which was a high IQ. The original aims were, as they are today, to create a society that is non-political and free from all racial or religious distinctions. The society welcomes people from every walk of life whose IQ is in the top 2% of the population, with the objective of enjoying each other"s company and participating in a wide range of social and cultural activities.

So you're actually complimenting us...didn't think anyone would EVER compliment me...or now that I'm thinking about it, its a sarcastic comment. Typical.

You might want to help on this one.

OH MY F'N LORD! THIS IS, BY FAR AND WITHOUT QUESTION, THE DUMBEST THREAD I HAVE EVER SEEN ON THIS FORUM! I LITERALLY FEEL DUMBER SIMPLY HAVEN READ IT! THIS IS THE DUMB LEADING THE DUMBER!

I'm simply going to sit and watch, because there's a train wreck about to happen!

You two Mensa members have a good time!

I am sorry Monkey Wrench, but this is the most immature post in the thread. Grow up a little a help.

Sorry man.. but this isn't right.
ALWAYS cut your transmitter on first, then the car. Before starting a nitro, this isn't as big of a deal, but if you had an electic it can go nuts before you know it. It is a good habit to get into. Radio on first, off last.

it is sitting outside running... the throttle is at an idle, do I let it idle for a few tanks.. or should it be running some but on the block?

You might want to sit the car on the ground. I know you are new, so idle to you might be half throttle to us. haha

The engine needs to be running, but not engaging the clutchbell. The clutchbell can and will spin.. but you really need to make sure that it is only idling.

Sorry Tac. I understand your comment and appreciate your candor, and you may be right, but it's too late for my involvement.

By all means, I encourage you to offer the advice and guidance needed here. I'll back myself out of this thread and withold further comment.

JS: I truly hope you get your rig squared away and running strong. My only advice is to just sit down, read your manual and do some preliminary research on your truck. If you do your homework now, it'll run better and last much, much longer. Good luck!

No, Monkey Wrench.. I think this guy needs proper help. I know you can offer it.

And I would suggest you be out there...even if it's on a stand, the engine might rev too high from some interference in the frequency or what...remember, you want to stay at low RPMs for the first 5 tanks or so.

Monkey Wrench...I'm with Tac, I think this dude needs all the help he can get. Look at what Revo Rancher & VB did for me...you can do the same for this dude.

I hope you understand what we're saying JC, I've been there, about a week ago, actually!

easy now.. everyone has things they are good at, right now.. gas powered RCs isnt one of mine lol

she is up and going.. still letting it break in

er...break-in isn't just letting it sit on a stand and idle. You need to get out there and drive 'er! But as I said before, STAY AT LOW RPMS!!! No more than 1/4-1/3 throttle for about 3 seconds(! Al-I-Ga-tor, 2-Al-I-Ga-Tor, ect.) then apply the brakes. Theres no point in letting it idol on a stand.

2. Reciever- Turn this on FIRST, then the radio.

(skip step 2 if you follow this step, doesn't really matter then)
BAM! lol... I just said how I do it, and as I said, I always make sure my servos work properly before doing anything, so i usually do both ways.

OK, Todd (spit) is a quick learner and he can guide you through the set up of a break in and some of the first steps.

Tuning, well, let's say, we all learn more every day. Todd can give some tips. The rest of us, PATIENCE. :surrender (God, my head is hurting. No wonder Rolex ended up in the hospital; old story, don't ask)

MW, keep hitting your head. Surprised no one knew what mensa was/is?!? :trout:

Zandor, I'm on the seat right behind you. Where do we get off? :jet:

Mensa is a group of the smartest people in the world which is about 2% of the population. Anyways JC, STAY AT LOW RPMs!!! And get out there, and drive'er!!! Remember, 1/4 Throttle...1 Al-I-Ga-Tor, 2 Al-I-Ga-Tor, 3 Al-I-Ga-Tor then apply brake. Repeat for 2-3 tanks. Then report back to us about how it went and get ready for the second part.

I'd like to add one bit of info....I really don't think ARP is a good filter oil spitfire....it won't have that gooey texture a real filter oi has.....MMO or ARO would probably ( Not sure on that either) work in a pinch......anyone have anymore info on that lil fact????

TACRacing, are you anywhere near Chapel hill (UNC)???

Isn't Mensa what my wife goes through once a month when she knows everything and no one can tell he otherwise?

Not too far from there at all. I live about an hour away.. and work about 20 min from campus. My brother graduated there and I have stumbled down Franklin St. way too many times. hahaha

I've never used aro as air filter oil but I'm with plaid. the stuff that says air filter oil is WAY thicker, and stickyer. aro in a bind. air filter oil if you got it.

okay... asking for help agian

I should have left well eneough alone.. but, i started to make some minor adjustments and got the thing completely out of wack!

Here is what I'm looking at when I take the air filter off: without touching the controls, half of the area is open.. if I give it gas, obviously all of it is open. Then if I hit the brakes it just pulls back a little leaving some open. Seems to me that is right...

As far as the needle valve goes.. it is 3 and 1/2 turns from the closed position.. the manual doesn't say where to set that, but thats where the lady from my local HS said to set it.

Here is what the car is doing: starts fairly easy (if you prime it), is idling very high, and the tires are moving. It does this for 3-4seconds, and dies...

any suggestions??

anyone??
