I'm not really sure which truck this is, but got it in a trade. It needs a few things, but I think I can bring it back to life relatively cheap. I just need to know what model it is so that I can order parts for it.

Also, what engine would fit this if I do need to replace the engine? Roughly what do those cost?

The other car I got in the trade was an HPI RS4-2 kit, that has a Futaba Magnum Junior 2 Channel FM controller. Could I use it for the HPI? It looks like the HPI has stock servos and receiver if that helps. I think all this truck really needs to run is a pipe, battery pack for the receiver, a control arm, and an air filter.

Obviously I want to get these running cheaply to a point...but my main focus with these is to learn how to build them and how to do basically everything involved with maintenance.

Thanks in advance for the responses.

*Edit, Yeah that's what I was thinking. But see, it doesn't have that engine on it.

Either way, Where do I get parts for it?

looks like a RS4 MT2.any smallblock mill should fit, I've heard alot of guys say they like the OS .18cvrx in that truck.

i was going to post one to both, but i just went with the old one. from what i could see it just looked more similar than the MT2 to me. but I'm no expert on the Mt's

So would you guys say it is worth fixing this one up? How much is the thing worth as is? Running?

It could be a HPI NitroMT, but it has a lot of MT2 in it if it isn't a MT2. The front bumper, engine are MT2.

The NitroMT and original MT2 were very similar. Same truck, but the MT2 was a newer model with a built in spur/slipper. The spur was of better quality as were the arms, bumper and engine.

Yeah if you can get parts they were great little trucks.......that looks like and old Nitro Star .15 engine on it. Fairly reliable mills.

Thats what I don't understand. I thought both the HPI RS4-2 and HPI truck would be able to get parts for online fairly easy but it doesn't seem to be the case. I'm debating wether or not to even mess with them. The car runs fine, but I was intending to swap the mill out on it and add some hop-up parts to it but I think I will just buy an electric car with good parts following for my on road.

Noone has any idea what this is worth as it sits? I think I might just get rid of it if I can't find parts. I seen a guy on here sell a HPI MT for like $85 last week...so I assume this isn't even worth that?

It's definitely an MT2. I'm a bit shocked to see that HPI has discontinued all the MT2 kits with the exception of the new MT2 3.0. I'm wondering if most of the chassis parts for the new 3.0 are the same as with the 2nd gen MT2 that you have. I'm also amazed to see that Tower has almost virtually no parts for this. That's a bit disappointing. It's a neat truck and I would have thought that support would have lasted a bit.

Yep, I'm kind of sour over it. The only good news is that my friend is selling me a T-Maxx 3.3 with about 1,200 invested for 300, so at least I'm not losing out now. :)

Thanks for the input, maybe I can find a use for the truck, otherwise it is going on ebay/craigslist.

Thanks for the input guys, if anyone knows where I can find parts for this thing online please let me know. I wouldn't mind getting this thing put together to bash.

Actually digger, that's the right stuff. I used "MT2" as my search string and came up with almost nothing. Weird.
Marauder, use the link digger provided above and you'll find tons of parts for it!

I hit the link for the "RC parts superstore" http://www3.towerhobbies.com/listings/rcpsmfgs.html

Marauder, put it on the shelf for now if ya don't want to put the money in it.
I never had one and you don't see many of the guys here talking about it. Haven't seen anybody talking crap about it either.
Seems like anybody that bought it liked it.
