Hello all,

I posted something similar in the touring section... got a lot of reads, but no advice.

I have a 1:10 duratrax streetforce GP2. Recently I upgraded to a OS Max .18 engine.

I haven't been able to set the shift point to a satisfactory place since then. The engine dropped right in, and I figure that the increased engine power would require me trying to set a later shift point. It was hard to hear the shift before I made the change, but now I have no idea if the shift is happening.

I also figured it couldn't hurt to upgrade my clutch bell with gears that are one tooth bigger each and my gears as well.

#1. Should I expect a significant change in the power band from switiching to a slightly bigger gear set?

#2. I wonder if the spring in my clutch bell needs to be tighter in conjunction with setting the transmission shift point to be later? I STILL feel like the thing shifts almost immediately.

Anyone with ANY insight into how to get this bigger engine's performance to transfer better to the wheels would be helpful.

Thanks!

if you increase in Power I would guess you'd want an earlier shift cause your mill will be able to get the higher gear going quicker....either way the shift point depends on the RPMs not the HP.....these mills put out plenty o HP for some 6 lb car...it's all abou the RPMs........You need to try different points and see which one gives you the most gain...since you changed so much of your drive train as far as ratio and Power you have more adjusting to do.......I'm not a nitro touring guy so I'm not gonna try and tell you how to do it w/ your car.....

thanks for the advice... I guess I was thinking about it backwards :)
