So I looked at the 2017 Honda CR V yesterday and I still can't make up my mind between it and the 2017 Ford Escape SE. Right now I'm leaning towards the Ford. I like different things in both when it comes to handling and the drive, the Honda has better acceleration, but the Ford has better handling. The Hondas cabin is very loud compared to the Ford, my civic is the same and I don't like that. The Hondas dash, controls, screen, and interface are nicer and more user friendly to me, the Ford has navigation, the Honda doesn't, these are not a deal breaker for me but are nice. The Honda in my price range is the Base model, the Ford is one below the top model with a nice package included.
All in all I'll get more car for the money in the Ford, appearance wise I think the Honda's nicer the Ford looks like a tall wagon/hatchback but that doesn't bother me to much I'm a function over fashion kind of guy ( this could be the reason I didn't care when my wife wanted the kitchen painted pink) My big thing is the unknown with a Ford, I know Honda is reliable and other then routine maintenance didn't need much work at all, will I get that with the Ford? I do my routine maintenance on time, I don't let things go, so maybe it wont be a problem.

Looking for anyone who has owned either and what they thought.

Why not check the Mazda if you like the Ford but prefer the sculpted look of the Honda. Ford and Mazda have joint ventures on a lot of their cars. Some share a lot of the underpinnings(including chassis)and even drivetrains as well. Mazda however keeps their spring and shock vodoo to themselves. Mazda's Zoom Zoom is not its engines but its suspension recipe.

That's pretty much the key to making any car last. I hear so many people say Honda or Toyota's last a long time, but I've seen just as many Fords, Chevy's Volvo's, VW's, and heck even Dodge vehicles last 200, 300k miles. Take care of your car and your car will take care of you.

A friend of mine had a Honda CR V for about 2 years, she then traded it in and got a Pilot because the CR V was to small. I personally like the looks of the Escape better myself.

As far as navigation, check with both but I know on 2016 and newer Chevy's you can connect your phone to your car and use Android Auto or Apple Car Play to get your phone navigation (which tends to be much better than factory nav) to play directly on your radio screen.

About the only ones that don't offer Apple Car Play and/or Android Auto on their touch screens are Ford and Toyota.

The Honda will have amazing resale value years down the road where the ford won't be worth jack. Picking a domestic over a Honda or Toyota is never going to pay off in the long run.
My uncle just bought a new CRV too, the only thing he doesn't like is the auto dimming head lights. We live in the country and have miles of nothingness but the delineators make the lights dim non stop.
