Ok i was planning on buying the sirio .18, but they discontinued it so whats the next best engine for the t-maxx 2.5. Iv herd the Fantom .18 is pretty good but are there any other good drop in engines that i should consider. Before just buying the Fantom. What other .18 engines are good that will drop in the t-maxx? I know this question has been asked a billion times, but i just want to buy a good dependable engine that will last long. I have already searched so.
Any input would be appricieated. Thanks

OS has a engine out for direct drop in for the maxx, nice mill, very dependable and will last a long time. search tower hobbies site and it will show up. Have you thought about a p2 maxx engine from picco, also a drop in engine with its own motor mount and alittle more power, I say this because it can be found pretty cheap on ebay sometimes and is a quality engine also.

OS Engines ,

I had the OS .18 in my truck. its a great engine. There is no better .18 other there.

OS's new 18 is supposed to be pretty good, as hudler said. I don't know about being a direct drop in or using the ez-start though.

Any idea what sirio replaced it with or did they stop supporting the maxx engine altogether?

The OS .18 DOES NOT use the T-Maxx EZ-Start System. Its a pull start. I'm not sure about the sirio engines.

I found the Fantom for about ten dollars cheaper at stormer (148.98$). Sirio just discontinued the .18 they still suppoart the max, someone said that they discontinued it because they just came out w/ a new .23. I looked into the O.S. .18 someone said that you have to cut the one rod down a little bit to get it to fit, (I'm not sure what the rod thing is called sorry). Any way i dont think i have the tools to cut it down to fit. Maybe I'm wrong though tell me if i am.

Do you mean the crankshaft ??? You do have 2 cut it down by using a dremel.

have a maxx here at our track w/a fhantom in it, it hauls butt, the poor kid is still learnin 2 drive, but even w/a bunch of gallons thru it, it made 1 of the fast guys here w/a new revo cry down the straight. and his father was sayin reason they got it was that it was so cheap 2 rebuild and easy 2 tune.

the new sirio .23 is what i would get if i was in your shoes. i have a sirio in my super nitro and love it. great powerband, easy to tune, and runs at 200* all day long.

I'm sure it can be found cheaper elsewhere, but this is towers price

The biggest engine i can put in my maxx is an .18 because i dont want to spend the money for a conversion. Thanks any way

Sirio .23 is direct drop and no .21 conversion required. That is a really good engine but just too expensive. I am waiting for O.S. TM .18 while still using my picco .21

That Sirio is a drop in for the Maxx. That only thing is you will have to upgrade the drivetrain.

no conversion nessessary. it drops in like the other guys have already said. and as you can see, its EZ start compatable too. it even includes the header. yes its pricey but its also the biggest, most powerful drop in motor availible.

picco also makes a .21 motor for your truck that is also drop in. search for the "picco P2"

here you go, picco p2 .21

this is another direct droping for your maxx that keeps the ez start. its still plenty fast, but cheaper than the sirio.

i know it has a picture of a pullstart, but it is ez start compatable.

I meant i didnt want to have to buy a whole new drive train, sorry. Well how much would a whole new drive train cost? Isnt it expensive? If its under 100$ then i might go for it.

If u redo the hole drive train it will a little over 100$. depending where u get it from and which brand u get. If u goin' 2 redo the drive train just get a conversion kit. It will cost around 150$ an will come w/ a hole new drive train, chassis, tune pipe, airfilter, an all the needed hardwear 2 install it.

ok so could i get a conversion kit at tower u think? I'm going to look thanks for the info. O would the conversion kit be one for like a .26 or something?

Didnt have any luck on tower maybe there are other sites?

heh, sorry about that. I'm not a traxxas guy so i didnt know you had to beef the whole driveline. that kinda sucks. I'm used to just dropping in whatever i want and go.

Yeah traxxas makes some really cheep stuff. Found that out after i bought the truck Do you know any where i can find a new driveline kit or who sells conversion kits that come w/ drivetrains included?
