RC Driving Style
hey, I am a nitro virgin. Infact, I have not really done and sort of RC at all.

However I have always wanted a decent RC car, so decided to have a shop around.
- it had to be nitro (maybe more impractical than electric, but nitro just seemed way cooler)
- it had to be off road (for my garden which is grassy and bumpy)
- it had to be small (so I didn't crash it in my garden)

So I finally decided on this: http://www.nitrotek.co.uk/A3010T.htm

It should be arriving tomorrow!

Ok, so if you are kind enough to help me out and have a few spare minutes I have a few questions...
(don't worry, I dont expect you to answer them all!)

1- Is the NB16-t any good?

2- I didn't buy any after burn oil or airfilter oil, how necessary are these? + could I use WD40 instead?

3- If I use it maybe 3-4 hours a week, how long will a 2.27 little fuel bottle last?

4- It comes with 2 glow plugs, will I need more?

5- It is snowing at the moment, but how much warmer should it be to break the engine in?

6- What can I expect generally from this hobby?

If you can answer any of my questions, I will be very grateful.
Thank you

Ok, so if you are kind enough to help me out and have a few spare minutes I have a few questions...
(don't worry, I dont expect you to answer them all!)

1- Is the NB16-t any good?I have honestly never heard of that

2- I didn't buy any after burn oil or airfilter oil, how necessary are these? + could I use WD40 instead? WD40 will be fine for after run oil , thats what i use and i have had no issues and real air filter oil will be a good idea

3- If I use it maybe 3-4 hours a week, how long will a 2.27 little fuel bottle last?It honestly depends on how hard you drive it, if you run it full bore all the time, fuel isn't going to last very long

4- It comes with 2 glow plugs, will I need more? Its always a good to have a few glow plugs on hand especially during your break in period

5- It is snowing at the moment, but how much warmer should it be to break the engine in?personally i wouldn't do it when its snowing the "pinch" or compression won't last long when you run it when its too cold i would wait till its at least 55F degrees+ before you start your break in. Bear in mind these are just my opinions

6- What can I expect generally from this hobby?lots and lots of fun and since you got a nitro, you are going to have to learn how to tune it daily but once you have a good tune on it, its just going to be small incremental changes from day to day

If you can answer any of my questions, I will be very grateful.
Thank you
I hope that helps you

Cheers for the help, you probably haven't heard of it because it might only be available in the UK I don't know...

I love the snow, but for the first time I really want it to go away!
England is crap when it snows and after about 2 inches, the whole country come to a stand still lol.

Hey, I'm from the UK too. Over in Northern Ireland.

I avoided the Nitrotek, I heard one or two bad things about them and the ACME engine I believe is an Infinity re-badged and has a rep for not holding tune. However, they are cheap and cheerful and as long as you are patient and careful I don't think it will be that bad. I've heard a few people say that no matter what car you get first you are likely to wreck it a lot.

I went a little higher, but not big brands due to budget and got an Ansmann, I've take it out 3 times and broken it 3 times already. It's a bit quick and running it in ... -2*C... Snow... Ice... Plastic Suspension = going to be brittle and as easy as egg shell to break. I know from experience.

One thing though, driving them in snow and ice is incredibly good fun, lots of power, virtually no grip. If you do this however, put your receiver and battery pack into balloons to keep them dry.

If you are going to wait on 55F (12*C) in the UK, you won't be driving it until March or April assuming it ever stops freezing/snowing this winter.

Have a hunt through this guys videos, there are a few of him breaking in and tunning other Nitrotek cars. http://www.youtube.com/user/alishanmao

1st Car

Hey Jammy473,

How are you getting on with the nb16 Truggy?

My brother brought his from:

http://www.xnitrorc.co.uk/cars/25-n16-t-nitro-truggy.html

Its great as its his 1st car and hes only 12 so like revo_rob_1984 said it will get smashed. I think for what it costs it is great value for money.

He broke the front suspension tower but thats because he drove it head 1st into a tree, wasn't much to fix just got the new part and hey presto back out again. I have a vrx-2 also from xnitrorc so i wasn't expecting the nb16 truggy to be very quick but it surprised me!:D
