I found this rig on Craigslist, thinking about picking it up as another winter project. The guy has no clue to the model and neither do I. Any one have any ideas?

My first thought was it was a Thunder Tiger EK4 but I'm pretty sure what you see there is an early edition Kyosho USA-1 Nitro Crusher.
Thought to be one of the first ever production nitro monster trucks, they debuted 10 years before the 1st edition T Maxx. Very collectable IMO, but be forewarned, replacement parts could be hard to find and pricey, although my understanding is a majority of parts are interchangeable with the Kyosho Burns Buggy.. Engine appears to be an O.S, RF-B .21 possibly? Radio appears to be a Futaba AM Magnum Sport..
I'd love to get my mitts on a resto project like this. If you enjoy restoration projects, this one's worth checking into and saving, IMO.
Any idea what the owner is asking for it?

Yeah I thought it would be a great fixer upper, I recently got the Kyosho Tracker that I am fixing up as well. The guy was asking 350$ but I have worked him down a little and into a trade for some electronics I have... That does look like the truck though! You found it! I decided to get it, going to pick it up maybe as soon as today! From what the guy can tell, there is not much wrong, just needs a clean up and some msc...

I could do that! Might be a little slow (full time college), but I could post as I go! Although, I can't stand these rigs in my space with some old dust like that, if it is not fresh mud it is coming off asap LOL, so I will have cleanup pics to post!

I'm picking this beast up tomorrow, and I have the old Tracker truck as well, I intend to get new age parts on them, I am especially excited to see how they would go with some newer big block engine : D

Kyosho USA-1 was my first thought too. I'd pick it up just to have, those things are hard to find and would make an awesome project.

If you buy it please post pictures of your rebuild.

Done deal! Heading out in like an hour to go pick it up! Should I keep running with this thread or start a new one for pics?

I'd start a new thread. We all enjoy a good build thread. Or in this case a re-build thread.

Ok, I have posted the new thread under projects and builds as "resurrection of the nitro crusher"!! This thing is massive, I thought it would be smaller, the tires alone are 4 1/2 inches wide and sit 6" high..

NitroTrout, that link to the Vintage RC site is AWESOME!!!!:thumbs-up::thumbs-up:
I got side tracked for over :eek:2 hours last night looking over it!:)
