Hi guys tonight i thought i would do an engine change in my ts4n. i decided to put a tt .18 in and used the pull start from the engine that was in the car it pulls through but seems to have lots of compression but hard to pull if you know what i mean. any ideas were i have obviously went wrong would be appreciated thanks.

Try loosening the glow plug ¼ to ½ turn while trying to start the engine. Once started tighten it back up.

Tried that today but when i tighten glow plug up when its running it becomes stiff to pull again on a restart. also seems to be idling very fast and wants to accelerate away from me. any more suggestions guys

If your dealing with a new engine you are going to have a tighter "pinch" at the top of the stroke during the break in and early running stages. As the motor gets more and more usage the pinch loosens up some and makes it easier to pullstart it. When you loosen up the glowplug to start it you are in essence releasing excess pressure from the cylinder. After you run a couple quarts thru it you shouldnt need to loosen the plug during restarts anymore.

Preheat all new engines with a hairdryer. Get it as warm as you can. This combined with cracking the plug loose will relieve stress on the internals and the pull start.
