Help! have some engine questions

Hi all, I have a OS .21 tm it has a little over half a gallon on it. I noticed yesterday that dirt was collecting on the side of the block and it looked oily (dark and wet) so today I took it out and removed the flywheel to have a look at the bearing and sure enough there was oil on the bearing. I cleaned it up and put some soap water on it and blow on the fuel line, there was some small bubbles forming around the crank and the bearing (so thats where its leaking). Should I contact OS about it with there 2 year warrenty only had it for a month and bought it new? Now heres my other problem I went to remove the rear plate to see and clean it up, well OS use's screws and I had 3 out and on the last one it striped now I can't get it out, what are my options? Thanks in advance for your help

Well... you could contact OS and see what they say on both counts.

As for the screw, you could carefully drill the head off the screw, then take off the back plate and remove the rest of the bolt via the stump that should be left over. I've done that a few times with cooling heads. Just make sure to use a bit that is fat enough to eat up the head completely. As you want to have a stump left to get a hold of. Light pressure and low speed as it will probably drill pretty easy. Any slip up can damage your back plate.

Once off, then replace the bearing yourself, if you don't feel like waiting for OS.
 
Well going to rplace the bear myself, are there better bearing brands then others? I also got the screw out took rotoary tool cutting disc and put a nutch in the head then used a flat head screw driver, easy peasy.
 
Well got a boca ceramic front bearing and switched it out not hard at all it went super easy tapped old bearing out with socket and tapped new one in with chunk of wood all back together now. My LHS didnt have the bearing I needed so he took a Boca ceramic kit he had that the front bearing was the same and split the kit and sold me the one I needed for 35$ and gave me 5 rear plate screws that are not those stupid phillips heads, I have to say I'm glad that I got engine from LHS because probly would not get as good of service if I had got engine else where. Well just thought I would update
 
Most new mills will leak from the front bearing for a while, it's due to the overly rich settings. Your LSN is probably too rich or the crankshaft is not fully seated in the engine if it is leaking that bad. The new bearing is a good idea though, so it really does not matter. Go ceramic on the main bearing too, you'll gain a good bit more rpm's andd it will spool up quicker.

I did not that ceramic bearings would increase the rpm's, if I replace the rear bearing witha ceramic you think it would be noticable better? Also are you saying the leaky bearing is still good and it was from running to rich?
 
Those engine screws can be a major, major pain in the ass. I suppose it's sometimes the users fault for using a faulty screwdriver/screwing in the wrong angle, but still they should come up with something more sturdier. Like titanium screws or something near unbreakable, and obviously not phillips head (The star, right?) -- those are extremely fragile. Can't find any translation for the head piece I mean, but I'm talking about the screws that come standard with most engines. What are the names of those?

Need something that can handle more than a simple slip on a screw to mess up an entire engine. (Well, in the sense that you can't use it until you've fixed the screw.)
