Hey all,

Bit of help here, yesterday I was bliping around finishing up what was left in the tank, was cold but once the motor warmed up she drove amazing.

Today I have it on it's stand and wanted to clean it up a bit, I just now noticed something weird. When I give WOT (motor is not started) the servo goes to WOT then keeps going back and forth from umm WOT to lets say half open, over and over as long as I hold the gas. Little blips work fine, but the second I give full gas, the servo does it's little dance, it will not stay open at WOT.

Any ideas? this is a Revo 3.3 we are talking about here, I just upgraded the radio and RX to the Traxxas Tqi 2.4 but when I tested it at the LSH it ran fine and hit 2nd gear.

Help?

Barry

Yup, I just charged it from the port on the bottom of the car, never charged it from there before, maybe charge it directly to the battery itself?

The port on the bottom of the car?

Ok that did sound weird lol.

Traxxas Revo 3.3 where the optidrive is under that is a little rubber bit, take that away and there is a port to plug in your charger to charge up the battery. I tried it for the first time before to see if it worked and it looked like it did. Maybe it is not working and charging the battery directly would be better?

One thing you have to remember (not to criticize) is that we don't all have the same rig. I don't have a Revo, so I had no idea there was a plug there.

I would try charging the battery separate though.

Also look for loose/broken wires. If all that is good, it is possible that the servo is bad.

Thanks, battery is charging again now directly, I looked at the wires and all seems good. I hope it is not the servo as I just got this car, however that was my first thought, then again it did work perfect yesterday. Here is hoping it just didn't charge right from that port

It can also go a bit twitchy if the radio is too close to the Rx.
Well I was about 2 inches away hee hee, funny thing I have 2,4gh in all my planes and heli's and never saw that before no matter how close I was

Update, batter pack fully charged, held WOT and the servo held for about 20 seconds then started it dance again, so just to be safe, anyone have a link for a good TX battery pack for the Revo 3.3? now remember I changed out the AM TX and RX for the 2.4gh so not sure if that is pulling more power or whatnot.

Also just to be safe a good gas servo link would help.

Thanks for helping out the new guy :)

Anyone have any links for a good RX battery pack and a good throttle servo? I don't want to go out and get something that I will need to replace again in a month.

Thank you

Barry

Most any battery pack is good, you can probably grab a cheapo on ebay. For a throttle servo, you really can't go wrong with HiTec or Savox. JR Racing is good, Futaba, even Hobbico. Look at the specs, faster servos for throttle, torque for steering.

I think I am about to feel very silly......

I was reading the Traxxas forums and came across a post that had the same symptoms as my servo. Even had a youtube vid of it doing it's dance.

Turns out once charged the battery has a higher voltage and needs to rest a bit before putting it in the car. Once he did that and not plug it in right away the symptoms stopped and the servo worked normally.

I can't check it now, but if that is the case boy am I going to feel like the biggest nubcake :hehe:

I will order a new battery anyway though for when I go out bashing :)

Update, just tested it with the battery at rest after a charge, same thing.

I called Traxxas support and the guy said ti sounds like it can be the throttle on the TV doing it, we swapped channels 1 and 2 on the RX so now steering controls the throttle servo and sure enough it did the same dance.

He was actually able to hear the servo do it's back and forth dance and said the servo is bad :( weird cause ti was good the last time I ran it.

Oh well off to buy a new servo this weekend, Alien13 I will look into the ones you mentioned, I would rather buy a good one now then have to change it all over again in a month or two.

Never had a nitro before and I love mucking about with it, and thanks to this place I know I have all the help I will need. But I gotta admit, with my planes and heli's never had a servo go nuts on me like that, either they work or they die hehehe

servos can go bad without warning ...i had a servo die on me just like that ...was working fine ..turn power off ....15 minutes later i turn it back on ....dead servo ...good thing i have a few spares

You guys are great :) new servo and it is working like a charm.

Now to get over my fear of breaking something and take it for a few jumps :)

Also just bought a HPI Savage X 4.6 big block so expect a bunch of questions on that as well hahah, got 1 tank in her so far sitting on a block, time for tank 2 soon
