ok I'm planning on going eletric. And i found a corr pro 2 truck from thunder tech http://www.thundertechracing.com/desertracer.htm and as you can see i need a motor radio and pinion and batterys well i dont know what of which thing to get i was thinking of getting the mamba maxx 1/10th motor and that other thing? but what about that novak stuff? I'm confused and totaly have to have a lipo bat any good. so please help.and keep in mind "I wanna go fast" and not drain bats to fast.

Edit:ok iwas just at the novak site and its all german to me so what will i need to get this truck going?
thank you in advanced for the help.

If you're wanting to go electric, you would be a lot better off with either the Traxxas Stampede, Rustler, or the Associated T4, or maybe even the Losi XXXT. Another one to consider is the E-Savage and the Emaxx. All of those are electric, and truck based.

If you're wanting novelty factor, that Thundertech unit you linked to is a definite shelf-queen candidate. I'd be afraid to bash it, much less drive it.

Now, the difference between brushed and brushless.... Brushed uses a contact-based design on the armature, which has a lot of drag. Brushless, on the other hand, has little to no drag, and on top of that, has a much more efficient ESC. What all that translates into is more speed. Lots more speed. And since you don't have to replace brushes (and the occasional armature), it's cheaper in the long-run.

To switch between the two 'types', you would need not only the ESC, but the motor.

Now, batteries, LiPo is a bit unproven so far. If you get a decent quality pack, the brushless should work just fine on it. Altho, the LiPo's will make it go from warp speed to ludicrous speed.

if you are wanting to race this electric truck i would go LI-PO (that refers to the battery, it stands for Lithium-Polymer) this gives you higher voltage output, also i'd get a brushless system, they need no maintenance and run alot faster than brushed motor's.

oh sorry i just noticed i virtually repeated heartbreak's thread.
lol

cool thanks for da help I'm goin down to the lhs to look at nitro lol that truck is cool but ur probley right it will be a shelf queen and i want to BASH so probley do the tmaxx thing thanks for da help

Skip the tmaxx, and go right for a Revo or a Savage. Much tougher trucks, and you'll spend more time bashing, less time fixing. The maxx is known for weaker bulkheads and problematic engine mounts.

just make sure you get one with good reliable engine and look after it well, there's nothing worse than an engine that won't start really spoils a day out

As far as electrics go, have you considered a Team Associated RC18t? They're a micro-RC and are dirt cheap to upgrade. Parts are readily available and they are a pretty tough little beast out of the box.

My brother has one of these and my dad has the factory team one. They are excellent and when i first saw it go (first time i'd seen a nitro go) it was amazingly fast. If you do get one then my advice would be to buy a RPM bumper, it covers the shocks a little better than the standard one.

And yes they are cheap to upgrade the standard chassis is about £6 ($12) and they do a modded one but i don't know how much they are.

The aluminum chassis upgrade is about $35. I just put one under my 18t, although the 18t is an electric not a nitro.
