RC Driving Style
Well I finally decided to finish this thing. The main rotor assembly was all I had done and the rest was in the bags. Well today, everything is coming together. I will post some pics tonight when I get home.

The goal is to have it at the ECB for hoverring purposes only. Forward flight and helis dont mix for me. I can however, hover with no problems (well none that I think of anyhow) hehe

The hard part is hovering. Foreward flight is easy, just like a plane, but ya gotta use the rudder more than on a plane. The transition from flight to hovering is the key.

Good luck C, helis are a trip.

I've been flying on RealFlight G2 for well over a year now. Thats where I learned how to hover. Dont get me wrong, I still trash heli's like they are going out of style, but the urge to fly mine has bitten me in the ass.

Error - you hit the nail on the head. I got the forward flight and even inverted flight down. Getting out of it and back into a hover is what kills me almost every time. I bring it in like a yo yo and then some.

Should be interesting to say the least.

Guys since you know a bit about heli's I'll pop the Q's here.

At the LHS I found a mini heli Its about 2' long maybe? Its full function. It's been used, but not abused.

It comes with all the micro servo's and a good running engine. He' wants $100 for it minues the reciever and radio. I have 7 channel futaba radio, and a 5 ch reciever.

I'm thinking about snapping it up, so I can give it a shot one day. I'm thinking for $100 why not. Is that a decent price for motor, servos and heli? I would have grabbed it if it was full size, but being smaller I'm hesitant.

BTW I knwo I'm going to have to put a TON of time into a sim before I even think about running it.
Somone must have been in a jam, he picked like 7 heli's in in one day.

Is it nitro or electric? Sounds like it might be a Lite Machines heli. Those are tough. Sims are good to teach you proper stick movements, but not the feel. I have RF G1 and 2 and flying helis on there bears little resemblance to the real ones (models). Actually, once you get the orientation down on the sim, it's a real good idea to not play with it once your get on the real ones. Pretty much the same concept as Real Race, it's close, but not quite real enough. Diet real is more like it.

Find out what model it is Lykan, if it's a lite machines, it may not need a gyro. Ya can't fly without a gyro on 99% of model helis. Also, check the ball links and make sure they are in excellent condition. Is it a fixed pitch or collective head (this will determine if you need a heli radio or not).

It's not a fixed pitch. It gas powered. I know If I saw a picture of the engine I could say "thats it" (its a tiny but has alot of detail). The front , or cockpit is made kind of like the R C solutions roll cage. A solid vertical plate with a horizontal plate going throughthe middle.

They also have two raptors and a few other models(used but sweet), but out of my price range for a heli, I'm probably going to face plant the first or second time out. Maybe Ill snap a shopt of it today and see what you guys think.

Thena agin it seems the second I show interest in any of his used machines, their gone the next day heh.

Sounds like a Lite Machine, but they only make FP heads. Might have aftermarket parts. A pic would be helpful.

I'm pitching a tent right now!

All I have left to do is a bunch of connecting rods, the radio tray and the canopy!!!! Everything else is GOOD TO GO!

Woohooo!

I've got a hawk 2 or 3 (can't remember) half built. I didn't follow the directions properly and need to go through it and see where I messed up on. I just haven't been looking forward to it.

Maybe this summer i'll take a weekend and finish building it.

Well as it stands, I can't FIND a Futaba 9x radio with all the servos and receiver. Beats me where it is, so the radio tray sits empty :(

I can't move on until the radio gear is located. Which blows!

Anyhow, the rest is done. So as soon as I find the TX and RX I will be golden. And it wont be long until I fire it up!

ROCK ON!

Dont worry man, mine sat for almost 2 years not being build lol.
