but today is the day!!!

i got bored last night so i dug out my stuff and table and set it up in the garage. charged the revo, ignitor, and sensor. cleaned the air filter, and i think I'm ready to rock. I had an issue with the OWB last time i drove it but i hope i got it cleaned up good enough this time. Gonna dig out my ramps and give the neighbor kids a good show!! my GF nor her two kids have seen it run either so i should be getting plenty of ohh's and ahh's. i just hope the fuel is still good! its been sealed up with the red stopper and cap so hopefully it will run decent.

wish me luck guys!! if its able to limp back to the garage ill be happy!

Have fun!

It has been almost 2 years since I have run a nitro rig and I don’t miss it.

Electric or Fuelie does it for me now.

You mean gas? Fuelie, at least in the 1:1 hot rod world refers to nitro. :D

Good luck with the run Beason! I know how you feel buddy, I had to go a little longer than that without running my truck. I've still only managed to run it twice in the last couple of months. Run the wheels off of it!!!

:

Fuelie in the RC world refers to 5th or 6th scale that uses gas/oil premix. In my case, the HPI Baja 5B.

Yeap, HPI even named their SS engine the "Fuelie", but I know exactly what you mean about fullsize racing, racer.

I know for sure my next purchase will be an electric rig of some sorts, something I can upgrade to a brushless system pretty easily.
But I don't think I could ever do away with my nitro's all together.

It'll feel good to finally get out there and tear it up, you'll be the neighborhood 'favorite' with all the kids. :)

I want the 5b. Have fun tearing it up dude! Electrics are cool, but there is nothing like the sound and smell of the Nitro burners.

I've always heard of them refered to as "gassers" but i dunno. i would love to have a 5b but the budget is tight with the house and all. maybe after i hit the lotto ill by one, or 10...

yea i just know the kids are gonna scat themselves..lol then every day its gonna be knocks on the door "can Mr. Blake come out and play??"

was playing catch with the kids last night out in the sack, had to tell them i was going in for good before they would leave.. lol

may look into an onroad now that i live in a hood, got somewhere to run one now. saw one of those "fast and furious" drifter cars at a garage sale for 10$ i shoulda grabbed it, couldnt be to hard to change out the electronics in one!

Yeah, I don't care how much a rig costs with lipo and brushless... it still seems "toy'ish". Throw a fire breathing, smoke belching, nitro consuming engine in it, and it takes away a good portion of the "toy" and upgrades it to MACHINE!

At least that's what I'll tell myself when a brushless rig passes my aftershock with an LRP28 in it... TOYS!!! THEY ARE TOYS I TELL'S YA!!!

Hope you are having (or had) a good time out.

Haven't had anything out for over a year! Just haven't had the time.

Hope ya had a blast!

well it went good.. for a little while...

fired right up with no issues, did a few runs to tune it and got it to pep up a little. the hood kids were all out sitting on the curb watching and the revo was running pretty well!

once i got it to run good i straped on the lid and set up the ramps. i kept having to move them back because i was landing in the landscaping lol

didnt even get a tank through it and pulled a shock end off.. i have plenty of shock ends, but i lost the spring cup.. looked for about 30 min, even raked the area, nothing...

oh well, i need some stuff from tower anyway.. lol

i need a bigger yard :(

What rockers and arms are you using?

I had that issue more frequently when using RPM arms with P2 rockers and having the push rod connected to the arm at the tallest stance. After I dropped the push rods to the middle hole, I never had a shock issue again.

ill have to look, i know its rpm fronts and tekno rears. thanks for the tip

got the parts, fired it up, and after 5 minutes ripped the same shock end off. help olds!!!

ok i have rpm arms in front, and tekno extended in the rear. i have p2 rockers and the rod in the middle hole. i have the traxxas hollow rods and 1 spacer on each end i think. dont know what shock oil.

any ideas?

Do you have the little blue bump stop thingies installed on the shock rods? They cushion the rod ends and shock bodies on hard landings. If you don't have those fuel tubing works well too.
Check over the suspension good, something else may be loose/bent or worn causing the problem.

i have them, but they wouldnt help in this situation. its when the suspension extends all the way out that it is pulling the shock end off. the rest of the suspension operates smoothly and i havent seen any bent or broken parts. I used to pull the rear ones off on a regular basis, but this is just getting old.

anyone else had this issue?

What tires/wheels are you running? Something large and heavy?

I honestly never had that problem. My problem was snapping shock shafts. Once I changed to the middle hole on the arms, put plastic ends on the shocks and installed TiNi shock shafts, it was no longer an issue.

Well, I had many other problems, but yours wasn't one of them.

Bent engine bays, bent push rods, busted rocker arms, busted RPM arms, engine mount moving constantly on hard landings, throttle linkage sticking... I gave up and got back into 1/8 MT's, which seem to put up with my nonsensical bashing better.

All that aside, don't the tekno rear arms push the axles back further? You may need to use the taller holes in the arms to give it more room to move when fully extended. Since the "center" of the axle is back further, so is the mounting hole for the push rods, which in effect, requires that the rod movement be longer. So, by using the taller holes (closer to center) you would allow the arms to move further before the shocks top out.

If that doesn't help, you can try putting o-rings underneath the shock piston to limit down travel a bit, but, this will add cushion to the setup, which may help your problem.

yea the axle goes out at an angle, i see what your saying, but now I'm ripping the front shock ends off.. there strait. i was thinking if i went to the taller holes it may help. i may just go aluminum ends, but i dont want to start destroying shocks..

i started a thread on this in the revo section if you want to post there.
