Old school TRX .15 rustler..been sitting in a tote for several years...had it zipping up and down the road in about 5 minutes!!!

Yeah, I've heard people say Traxxas is pretty bad-a$$ but then some say they are junk. Doesn't seem to be a middle ground.

I think the biggest problem with traxxas is the fact a lot of beginners buy them and toast the engine and wonder why and don't question their tuning skills.
I myself have 20 Traxxas rigs at the moment with a wide variety of engines and now I have a fair knowledge of tuning I find that the stock engines last much longer, my first 3.3 lasted less than 3 litres but now I've got tuning under control I've used 3 litres in a weekend with not one issue.
and those pro .15's are a great beginners engine with quite a wide tuning window .

Yeah funny thing is though, when you ask them to elaborate on why it is garbage...they usually give you a reason and it is their fault. ""when it flipped it broke the body mount" Oh did you have the body on it? "no".... or, "the motor didn't last very long" Oh, what temperature were you running at "I don't know...didn't seem real hot, I could put my finger on it for a second"

I have WAY more spare associated parts in my tackle box than I do Traxxas parts... I have NEVER changed a part on the Traxxas due to normal wear except tires and wheels nuts...and I have ran it more than the Associated RC10GT.. I couldn't tell you how many differential gears and bearings I have put in the GT, or pull starts ETC.... when running it will run circles around the Rustler...but I can remember when we would all get together and run our trucks...I took mine home needing fixed more than they did, if they ever did, even though I lapped them 14 times.

I would be curious as to the reasoning anyone would give for the Rustler being "junk" and "it just is, I know people who owned them they worked on them constantly" isn't a really good answer.. ask them what was being worked on constantly..they answer "just everything man" LOL

I had the early TMaxx .15 in 2004. I couldn't tell you how many gallons went through it, both in the .15 and later the 2.5. It ran endless laps at the local track almost daily and was intensely reliable.
Tuned correctly and properly maintained they will serve you very well.

Totally stock at the time this picture was taken. Wheels, tires and the 2.5 were the only upgrades. The .15 was still running strong.

"Working on them constantly" is a state for almost every nitro that I've seen. It can even be said of electric and gas to a lesser extant. I am always tinkering with one of my rigs even if they are in good running condition.

Boy you got that right...doesn't matter who makes it, or what size it is, once you get the bug you got the bug... the tackle box keeps getting bigger!! LOL..In fact I just got done putting the associated .15 back together, had to take it apart and clean it... seems fine, turns smooth and will suck the meat off of your finger if you cover the piston sleeve with it and then turn the crank so I think the compression is fine LOL.... wish I had a pull start that wasn't stripped, Id throw some fuel in it and try to fire it up.

Very nice maxx!!! I couldn't tell you how many gallons of fuel have been through that Rustler .15, I know I have went through a few...and I am the second owner of it. Tune a little rich...they seem to last forever.

I had about 3 gallons through a 3.3 before I sold it. It still had plenty of compression left. The current owner has about 2 gallons through it.
