Spray painted an aluminum Traxxas chassis? I might paint my Bandit's chassis, but I need to know first.

Per the smartest thing that is easy to access, and in short words:

"In general, anodizing is less expensive than painting, with the exception of coil painted products. Anodizing is harder than PVDF or FEVE. Anodizing is better for aluminum in high traffic areas where the coating is subject to physical abuse and abrasive cleaners. Anodizing cannot peel off. " - Google

In even shorter words, spray paint would peel off so not that ideal. Experienced that with plastic parts, unless you dye them.

On my slash, I spray paint the proline locking caps for my body mounts the same color as my body to match, they actually tend to last a while, more than I expected, but the spray paint would flake off after a while and then its back to the OG black.

Is this a mid motor convert? Only bandit chassis i know of is r.e.m. or f.l.m. I too vote annisize. You can do it at home. The thought of flaking pain is getting my ocd worked up.

If it is a nitro chassis, those flex. Good luck.

I've got a buddy back home who could powdet coat it. Would that work?
Also; flex? What do you mean?

If it's the nitro chassis they flex alot. In a crash or jump they bend, but bend back. Aka flex. Powder coating would work. But if possible I would look into diy anodizing.

Well yeah. But my Bandit is so light it barely matters. Anodizing is maybe a bit expensive. My buddy would powder coat it for free. Besides, I don't bash my Bandit.

If you're not bashing, maybe there are a few other parts you could get powder coated at the same time.
It might add a cool looking edge to the chassis work.
It would be nice to see the finished product. I'd like to know how the powder coat holds up for you long term too.
Theres a shop less than a mile from me that does coating.
I've even thought about hitting up Eastwood for a kit and baking the parts in a top quality Craigslist oven.

A top quality "Craigslist oven"? C'mon. Amazon is where it's at apparently. They've got Amazon servos, Amazon ESCs, Amazon batteries, and even got Amazon RCs. 🫣 ;)🤫

I went down another rabbit hole on anodizing a while back. Tons of "DIY how to at home" videos if a person want to put the effort into it.
That's what I'd do for a chassis, but having a friend to do some powder coating for free... even better.

If I can get it done, there'll be a thread with some pics.

Will that work on aluminum?
