If read all over the net, from tank placement to check valve to shortened lines to additional tank. What is the best method to rid this problem without moving or replacing the tank!

olds is right but imo it is worth putting a Mugen MB5XT truggy tank on it. The whole mid tank mod balances the truck out much better and the tank is much less prone to punctures. On the extended chassis like the XL, you can mount the Mugen tank in the stock location with a little brainstorming.

hey boys, I have ran into the HTL issue on my savage X SS and I've tried almost everything but the best thing I've tried is shortening the fuel line from the tank to the carb. My line is probably 6 or 7 inches long and i run it in between the carb and cooling head. You'll have to turn the banjo fitting on the carb around and point it towards the tank. After I did this I didn't have the HTL issue anymore. I'm curious if anyone else has tried this method and if so, what were your results?

I've heard the exact opposite of that actually. On the savage forum, guys are rapping fuel line around the shock tower and supposedly that works for them.

My 1/2 tank lean problems stopped when I switched to the newer fuel tank with the rear pick-up. The original tank had the pick-up in the front and under acceration is when I noticed the starvation.
On the posts that hold the tank, I place an o-ring under front of the tank and on the rear post I place one between the tank and the clip.
I use the old o-rings that come out/off of the differential.
I realize it's only 2mm, but anything to give it/force a backwards lean is better than nothing.
I also use a long fuel line wrapped around the shock tower - but I think it's always been that way since day one.
