Guide for Understanding Lipo's

I came across this website trying to understand lipo's and it was VERY helpfull to me, just wondering if the people who know the whole scene agree. and if so keep it up. I know it's on a helicoptor site but Good info I think. It is a long page but it breaks down almost everything i had a question to.

Good info, but some minor things need updating. Like the difference internal resistance values between a 20C pack and a 50C pack. Or that there is no standardised universal test for any manufacturers claimed (C) discharge rates.
Between that and This site. Any questions should be answered regarding them, and with smarter chargers nowadays lipo fires are a lot less than what they were 3 year ago. They still happen, but there is as much chance of a nimh or nicad exploding as there is a lipo catching fire. And i know people will jump in and show me lots of you tube vids from back in the day, when lipos was charged with a nimh charger to see what would happen when a lipo is overcharged.

I'm a super newbie at batteries and charger stuff and it explained things well thought id share with you all. and the other pages are awesome as well alot of good info on that thread awesome videos!

all you really need is the basics,
What cell count, what amperage you'll need for the system and will the pack physically fit.

If your new to lipo, I would look up all the charging tips first. About storage, About charge rates, The different charges you can do, and why is there different ways to charge, Why is there many different balance connectors.
Why is one charger $20 when the excact same charger but different name is $90.Why do they say stay near to the lipo while charging and then give you an 8hour charger.

When everything becomes clear you'll be wanting lipos in everything.

Already there haha greywolf has given me advise and I used it lol. New charger on the way and Lipo for mod to a remote he also recommended

Hump packs are 6V. A hump pack consist of 5 2/3A cell NiMH batteries. each one is 1.2V for a total of 6V

oh well what a lipo at 7.4v to power the reciever and the servos that will fit into the savage x battery slot? or is this something i shouldnt do? link to what i found here.

Are you running HV servos? The stock ones MAY work for a while with the lipo pack, but I think it would shorten the (averagely short) life of them. I don't know what the dimensions of the battery box is, see if you can find it or measure your stock pack and see if the lipo pack will fit. I'm looking into running a lipo pack and HV servos on my XXL, I just need throttle and shift servos, then my steering will put out over 400oz.

The throttle/brake servo is a HV servo but can also run on 6V. 6V is fine for this servo. Your steering servo is not a HV servo and should only be run on 6V. Now if you want to velcro or strap a big lipo battery to the kit for longer battery life you can buy an external BEC and use a lipo to power your electronics at 6V using a 2S lipo or you could run your HV servo off of the lipo pack bypassing the BEC and run everything else off the BEC but that takes getting creative with making/modding special Servo wires.

ah well i dont want to be messing with things i do not fully understandyet.
i will look into a HV steering servo if this one dies. so next question. what is a good 6v hump pack. and a good charger for it?

Edit: sorry i just re looked at the charger you reccomended greywolf. the ac680. and it says it charges NiMh if i read that correctly. (I've yet to recieve it)

Just grab you a couple of these and yes you cna charge them using the AC680.

My steering is 416 at 6v and throttle brake a little over 100 at 6v and higher at 7.4 it was a HV servo. I got a hold of savox and the steering servo I got they said will NOT handle it and voids warranty. So I just have to make sure to run these at 6v. To be safe

IDK why they would list it as a high voltage servo and then say it voids the warranty, thats kind of dumb but either way those pack I listed are 6V packs and your servos will do just fine on them.

His steering isn't listed as a HV sevo, his throttle one is though.
