Got my first electric and my first kit today. I got a Micro RS4. I bought a Team Orion speed control and a Team Orion big block motor. I also bought the Dynamite 1100 9.2v? Not sure on the voltage but the LHS owner says more power for the motor? Well on first inpspection my conclusion is Hell this thing has a butt load or pieces.

You will have fun building it.
As for a lot of parts LOL. Compared to a 1:10th its child's play. Its amazing how many parts an rc has.

Have fun.

yeah, pretty soon you'll end up replacing everything with aluminum and carbon. 8 cell pack? I don't know if that's gonna fit on the stock chassis. and when ya got it to fit, watch out for overheating the motor. I run 6 cells with the HPI modified motor and it gets pretty warm. Orion makes some carbon chasis parts that have fans over the motor, I think they brand them CRF.

Congrats, you'll like it.

That's funny, I never have had a hot motor, however, hot batteries is another story. Welcome to the electric club. I might buy a micro as well so I can build something easy for my daughter to play with.

Hey Pirata, want me to bring mine? If there's any smooth concrete, I will.

I currently am letting her use my RS-4 MT but I want to tone the batteries down so she gets a longer run time with less speed. She can't quite grasp controling the speed and steering at the same time, but hell, she's only 5.

I guess on an RTR is not as intemidating as its put together and you replace 1 or 2 hop-ups here and there. Its like dating a bunch before you actually do it where a kit seems like your doing it the first night you meet. I have performance anixety.

Blazer, you got the kit, right? You're better off going that route. I got the RTR and as it is, the only stock parts left on mine are the wheels, upper arms in the front, the bumper, the rear axle, and the radio. The RTR comes with the 150mm drive belt, and both of the bodies I run are 140mm WB, so even that is "aftermarket".

Some of the problems with the RTR: the ESC really bites, the steering servo is'nt mounted very well, and the bodies are ok but not great in the area of paint. The ESC has a really long delay before reverse kicks in. The one you got is great, I just can't remember if it'll handle 9.6v.

I wish HPI came out with a rally version of the micro, that would be cool for sand boxes.

Yes I did get the kit version. I hear HPI is going to put the Micro RS4 Nitro back on the market. I couldnt imagine a car that small with say a Rossi Blac Magic in it

cool, what disp mill would that thing have? OMG, I have a Norvel .061 heli version that is throttled. It's on my LMH heli and has a heatsink, and clutch. A micro savage. Lol, that would be different too.

I would buy a micr Savage that would be tight! I am going to start the assembly of the Mirco in about 30 minutes. Just gonna go pick up some good quality small screw drivers.

Well guess I am an idiot for being a sheep, as I listened to the LHS owners suggestion on the Team Orion ESC to go with my Team Orion BB motor. Well when I put it all together I was opening my esc and noticed right on the front of the package was NOT FOR USE WITH THE BB MOTOR. So I had to upgrade to a better one. You think the LHS owner would know WTF he is talking about as he has 3 Micro's, but thats what I get for assuming. So I bought the Novak Spy Micro Reversible ESC. Does anyone else have any info on this product? I never have owned a piece of Novak equipment so please let me know your experiences. It must be good right? I paid twice as much!

huh? I'm lost? I paid almost $100 for this ESC is that cheap? The Team Orion that was not compatable with my Big Block motor was only $35.

damn I just sent Novak an email to check if the ESC, motor, and battery I bought will all work together and they answered me in 2 minutes!!!! Some of these RC companies know how to do business and I am impressed. Thank you Novak!

Novak is good stuff. I got the mag on the micros and alot of guys are running Novak. I have the orion ESC and it does pretty good, but I'm only running the HPI mod motor on 6 cells.

Blazer, for a really sick micro get the 540 upgrade. I'll have to talk with a buddy here that did it and send some links if ya want.

so a 540 is a regular electric sized motor say for 1/10 scale electrics? If so thats ballz out for such a little car!!!!

yeah, check the videos on his site. That isn't exhaust coming out the back, it's the foam tires. A local friend here has that kit, and it's pretty sick.

540 refers to the size of the can or housing surrounding the magnets.

Thats the typical size for most electrics. And Yes Novak is one of best brands you can buy.

I dont know much about the micros but if you have other electric questions lemme know.
