I was going to pick it up tomorrow but I decided not to wait. Stumbled upon a guy from craigslist that was selling a brand new Platinum. Found out when I got there that he had painted the body but it has never been run! Apparently he had a case of Rolex Syndrome (a disease which happens to be spreading up northern Cali). :p:

I can't wait to run her tomorrow.

Congrats on the ne......hey, I resemble that remark.

Mmmmmmmmmm pie.

I'm not a big fan of the Traxxas radio and nimh battery that come with the RTR version. The Platinum is a good value when you factor in the big bore shocks, aluminum parts and center diff. I'm hoping the 4x4 will be as durable as the 2wd, otherwise I'm going to kick Lloyd's behind. lol

I'm about to order the 17mm wheel adapters so I can use my endless sets of buggy tires.

Mmmmmmmmmm pie.

Wife made my favorite cherry pie for my b-day YUM.

Thanks RCA. It rained a little bit but that didn't keep me from popping her cherry. The VXL system is plenty fast on 2S. Stock shock oil felt a little light for the bashing in front of the house. I'll play around with different oil and pistons. Handling is nimble and much more controllable vs the 2WD Slash. Drove through some puddles too just to test the water proofness. So far I love this thing. :D

Do it, it's the best RC money I've spent since the 2WD Slash.

Ran it for one quick pack today and the motor was pretty hot. I've got a heatsink lying around but unfortunately it doesn't allow the motor enough clearance. I have a dual fan mount I'll slap on for now.

I'll pm you for some advice if these motor temps don't drop. :D

I also ordered the traxxas clip on esc fan. I'll probably cut a hole in the windshield as well to let in additional airflow.

Bashed it hard this past Saturday and ran 4 packs through it. It took some amazing abuse jumping off a plastic skateboard ramp. However, when I tried jumping it off a pile of redwood brush it took a funky flip and bent the right rear axle. I thought it was odd because the ground in that area was soft. It was a relatively soft impact compared to the abuse it was taking off the skateboard ramp.

Cost to fix is cheap, $6 for a pair of axles and a couple bucks for wheel bearings.

good to hear. those weird landings almost always break something.

I am sure glad traxxas got their act together over the past few years. They are making some decent vehicles and you know if there is one brand that just about every lhs stocks, its traxxas.

I told my neighbor the exact same thing this weekend. After he saw my Slash I convinced him to get a Stampede XL5. He hasn't had an RC in a few years so the Stampede was an inexpensive way to get back in the hobby. He must have ran 10+ packs this weekend and not a single broken part. Great job Traxxas.

get that heat issue fixed?

i can't decide between a new echo weedeater or a slash 4x4.

The dual fans are keeping the temps down and I haven't had to cut a hole in the windshield yet. Ambient temps have been pretty mild though (mid-high 70s), so maybe in the summer I'll have to punch a hole or two in the body.

sounds good.

do you know of any beadlocks that hold a bead under high speed and don't throw your balance out of whack?

I haven't looked into beadlocks for the 4WD Slash. The proline beadlocks for the 2WD Slash were crap.
