Well, I took your advice Ed. I bought a nice Canon EF70-300mm camera. It was just calling my name when I passed by it in the display case. So far so good. Great focal length, no distortion with close pics (aka big nose effect). I think I'm all set for now. Maybe I'll get a dedicated wide angle lens for the larger scenic pics I'll be taking while aborad and just use the zoom for the ... well, I'll let my pics speak for themselves.

You wont go wrong with it.
I chose the 28-200 as an all around lens. It suits my subject matter 90% of the time.
Is the 70-300 72mm?
Did you spend the big bucks and get IS?

I like buying toys :D
I just got an aluminum tripod to the tune of $200.00 and it wasn't the best they had. This stuff gets expensive just like RCs if not more.

Do me a favor, If you see the IR wireless remote during your ventures pick one up for me. Everyone is out of stock. It should run under $30.00

Man, I wish I had the mpney for the IS. It's just the regular EF series. And yes, it is the 72mm. Going shopping is getting dangerous now. I can't just walk and go window shopping. Too many toys to buy and not enough funding! LOL

When I am in Manila, I will look for your IR wireless remote. I'm in need of one as well. You are using the EOS Rebel, right? Does that use the same remote as the 20D?

Hey there's about 20 of the RC-1's on eBay. I picked one up there around x-mas, think I paid about $22 shipped. It's great with a 3 year old!

Which of the two lens' did you get. There's one for about 150 and another for about 200. I have the more expensive one of the two and have been pretty pleased with it.

You made me have to get up and look! It's the EF75-300mm f/4-5.6 III. There are 2 versions of this, the USM and DC. Only difference between the two is that the DC uses a motor instead of the USM for the autofocus. The price tag was a little bit over $200. If I had the cash, I would've opted for the IS (image stabalization) lens. The IS is the white colored lens body.
