So, for a while I was a cheapskate and went with cricket as a cell phone service provider. I had some junky samsung phone.. a "myshot II." I guess it was ok if it was brought out when it was a big craze to take pictures with a cell phone.. but nothing much else to do with it. I decided to check out some plans, and I refused to go back with AT&T because I had issues with service, and they always jacked my bill WAY up over what it should have been monthly and I couldn't figure out exactly why.. I never went over my allowed usage. Sprint ended up offering a plan that cost a little less than what my cricket plan offered, with a LOT more features. I wanted to go with a DRIOD phone.. since my GF has one and I think it's really cool, but, they are offering the blackberry curve for free with a new contract.. I though it was a really good deal, seeing how the phone itself is really expensive. So, I'm going to try and set it up to allow my laptop access the internet and see how well it does. (Comcast sucks) Does anyone else have one of these phones? If so, what are some really cool features with it that I might not know about?

I just went from a Curve to a Torch, the Curve was a great phone, just not the best browser in my opinion but other than that it was great. Really good for texting and emails too imo and good battery life.

dude, go android and never look back. i got the Epic and LOVE it. sometimes i dont even open my laptop. i do everything from the phone.

I had to send a copy of a check to set up direct deposit the other day. couldnt get the scanner to work, so took a pic of the check with my phone, and emailed it with the phone. worked perfect!

IPhone 4 and I have zero complaints so far.

windows mobile 6.5.5 baby! i have used HTC winmo phones for about two years or so. the best out there, imo. i couldnt use a blackberry, dont like em at all. and have a pure hatred for the fruit phone(iphone).... android is cool, but not quite my speed.

congrats on the new phone, and if you are going to tether that to the laptop, you might want to make sure you dont have to have a special data plan.

The curve is a great phone, I have had one for a year and liked it, good camera, iffy browser, durable and excellent battery life. just make sure that you don't get the one with the track ball because they wear out fast. All things being equal I would go with the droid as well but you can't go wrong with the curve. As far as tethering I don't believe that you can do that with the standard plan but I may be mistaken so I would ask questions. work just sent me a Storm2 to try out so we will see if it better than the first version.

I've not owned a droid or Iphone but played with the iphone a bunch at the store and same with the droid when I was on verizon and they just didnt do it for me compared to the BB's. Since thats what you are being offered in the contract deal, you wont be dissapointed thats for sure. Any of them though like that, the bb, droid, iphone are all kick ass phones though, theres no doubt about that...

Well for the package deal I have an unlimited data plan, and the blackberry was free.. I saw no real point to paying 50 bucks to get a droid when this one cost me nothing. I do like the droid phones though.. they have a lot of cool apps.. and a LOT of free ones. I got a few free ones for the BB.. It's a lot more phone than I'm used to. Maybe later on when I get bored with it I will go for one. I'm not all too impressed with the Iphone though.. But, then again I refuse to buy anything that has an "i" in front of it. A bunch of us were actually talking about getting some shirts made with the mac logo with a circle and a slash with the phrase "iDONT" under it.. lol

to tether that bb with your laptop you will need a tethering data package. the unlimited data plan you are carrying now does not support tethering. and the bb will not allow it to tether without the correct data plan. just a heads up, its gonna be more expensive. and I'm not sure if your carrier has a cap limit on it, AT&T has a 5 gig cap on their tethering.

I have a rooted Droid version 1 since release.... will always go with a phone rocking the Android OS.....
