I don't know anything about these things so dont flame me! I have a smartech nitro onroad car. I used it once or twice about 8 months ago. last tme Iwas drivig it I got stuck in a huge puddle. I dried everyhting out then tried to use it again. It started but I have no throttle and it wont turn. anyone know what I can do to resolve this problem? as I said before never used one or even fix one before know so I have no idea where to start.

At first glance it sounds like a radio problem. If you've got no throttle and no steering, sounds like there's no power. First, double check the batteries for the receiver. Make sure they're fresh. Then check the transmitter batteries to make sure they're fresh. If the batteries are good, check the wiring and make sure the servos are plugged in properly. Check that the battery is plugged into the right slot. And check to see if the radio crystal has popped out of the receiver. That's where I would start. If that doesn't work, let us know.

I used the dryer on cool, and I dont see any wires shorted out is it possible it could be the servo?

So, the last time you used it was 8 months ago? Check every connection and open the receiver box. It's very likely that there are bad connections due to corrosion, or corroded shorts across the board.
Again, fresh batteries in both, before you do anything else.

what is the reciver box? is it the controler that you use for gas and to steer or is it somehthing else?

It's the box with all the colored wires going to it. The wires plug in, and if they weren't removed for drying, there's a good possibility there are corroded connections.
Again, don't waste your time on ANYTHING until you have brand new batteries in the car and in the radio.

i got freash batteries, checked all connections even did continutiy test on all wires and the all good. what should I do now?

Going by what I have read so far... it sounds like you have a reciever issue. That's my best guess going on what you have said. If you got it wet, I am guaranteeing you got water in the reciever. Even if you dried it off it doesn't take much to fry that thing... but based on what you have said so far that's what I think is causing your problem.

If you have checked all of the wires and installed fresh batteries, it sounds like the receiver is fried. I would recommend replacing the entire radio with a nice FM or Spektrum type system. The stock AM radios that are standard with most trucks are cars aren't that great.

where would I get a good reciver from? no one around my area can get parts for the smartech system?

Don't feel bad, amigo. The parts for a smartech car are kind of hard to get, unless you buy a whole 'nother car. The easiest way to get a radio system is call your local information line (the equivelent of 411 here in the states) and ask for listings for hobby shops. Call them all up, and ask if they sell R/C.

If you cannot locate a local hobby shop, you can always go to tower hobbies. Anything that is on either 27 or 75 mhz will work with your car.

If you purchase a new radio system, it will have a transmitter, receiver and usually servos. It would probably be the best thing.

Tower Hobbies, Amain Hobbies, RCBoyz, they are all great places to find radio gear. Any standard pistol grip radio system will work on your car.

i hate to jump in here, but your going to spend almost what you did on the car on a new radio for the car. smartechs arent the most popular or toughest rigs made. parts are hard to find, and they wear out quick.

if your serious about the hobby that smartech will end up frustrating you and you will quit. find you a good used ready to run rig or bite the bullet and get a new one. either way you will be better off, with better hardware, and come out cheeper in the long run.

but most of all STAY AWAY FROM THE WATER!!! lol these toys are like oil, they dont mix well with water.

you might not have everything conected in its place on the reciever. you can open your reciever and clean it with denatured alchol that might help
