My vote would be to save a little longer and get a Savage Flux. That's going to be my next purchase - brushless monster truck that's strong, goes anywhere and wicked fast. How can you go wrong? ;)

the only problem with the flux is that he won't be able to run it unless he already has the lipo's and charger. If not, thats at least another $300 if not more to get it running.

If you want crazy fast you need to go brushless, if you aren't already setup to charge lipo's then you are going to have to spend money there too.

If i had a $500 max budget, i would get the firestorm flux sell the electronics and get a mamba max/4600 setup with a 3S lipo and ac/dc hyperion eos 0606i

For under $400 you can get a Losi Speed NT, not so much on the cool factor, but it's fast!

And really, the only reason I suggest it is that I would finally have somebody that would be able to work with me to find hop-ups, and do mods. :)

I would suggest maybe the Team Associated SC-8 kit. You can then fit your choice of brushless and battery set up. The upside is that it is a kit. The down side is that it is a kit that you assemble. You also have to choose your own electronics.

Perfect combo to Add

4x4 Slash w/ battery $355 @ Tower w/ discount
Onyx 230 charger $79.99 Tower - I have used one for a year and a half and haven't had any problems.

That will leave you about $65 left to save up for a 3s:)

I believe that is for the brushed version. He wants speed. He would need the brushless, and thTs a good bit more I believe.

I would go with the brushless Slash 4x4 as well.

Brushless 4x4 1/10 slash gets my vote. Still have enough coin for a charger and a couple lipo's.

think the slash 4x4 is best bet. any suggestions on just up grading motor??? or just go with slash....
