I've got a NTC3 RTR and just shredded my tires in about a half hour of asphalt driving. Whats a good outdoor/asphalt/concrete tire for my car that will last?? Thanks

hi,

When I use to bash, I use to use HPI's tires & dish wheels...any wheels will work, but I like HPI's different compounds and choices of tires... The M compound tires will last you a while but will have less grip. The Pro compound tires will last shorter, but will give you the most grip. I don't suggest slicks as that give you the least effective run time. I'd suggest the x pattern pro compound tires for an all around good bashing tire.

I just bought a set of yokomo r-03 drifting tires for bashing. Do i have to put an insert in the tire or are these rtr??

Arrow, I tired a set of those and they were pretty good. Not the best of griop, but did last awhile on pavement.

I still prefer the X pattern HPI's.

Yes, it is perfectly fine to use foams on the NTC3. The settings do have to be changed to ake full use of the advantages of foam. It allows a more aggressive setup.

GSX, you may want to recheck your settings on your NTC3 if you're toasting them that fast. Also may want to adjust driving style as well but I'm pretty sure your tire problem is caused by the alignment settings.

I use foams on a TC4 that has an insane lec mill in it and I can really notice the difference in practice and race. You do have to tweak the suspension a bit to get them to respond the way you want.

I guess whipping donuts for 30 seconds isnt the best thing for the tires or the car. Its fun though. Does anyone know if I nedd inserts on the yokomo drifting tires, they are hard as a rock

Diver: The back wheels do point in alot, but thats what the manual suggested them at? Better traction?

One more question. After i smoked the tires i went to pull them off the rim and I can't get the excess rubber of the rim. Any suggestions? Or buy new rims too?

Donuts for that long of a period will destroy any tire whether it's foam or rubber.

Yes, you should put the inserts in the rubber tires. It prevents the sidewall from rolling over and also helps the tire keep its shape.

The rear toe on the car is for stability. The more it is pointed in, the more stable it is on a straight as well as when coming out of a turn. Only problem is that stability scrubs some speed. You have to find the setting which gives you the most stability with a decent compromise in speed. Most people will dial in about 2 degrees of rear toe.

Foam inserts or rubber inserts?? Thanks for the info!! These things are as bad as real cars!

Man, I only have 2 sets of tires for my ntc3 right now, Hpi X-patterns (i dont care about them, so I did one kickass donut and they ripped off the rims haha) Then I have those slicks, not sure what company but they have lasted me 3 months without ANY signs of wear.... Pretty good. I'm geting foams soon when I have the $

bake them.

250 degree for 20 minutes. Immediately after taking the wheel out use a flat screwdiver (or something like it) to chisel the small pieces of rubber away from the wheel. It will chip off. you should probably not bake them all at the same time as the last couple may cool too much by the time you get to them.

I've been doing this today with my buggy wheels to remove the tires. Works pretty darn well.

go with some hpi v-groove radials with dish wheels and some soft pro molded foams... perfect combination give tons of traction and long lasting

^^^
Will last a LITTLE longer with the radials, but won't have as much grip and the X pattern tires....definitely not for racing imo

I dont know what kind of rims you were baking but, I just put my stock NTC3 rims in the oven at 250 for 6 min and they were a little overcooked (melted)
So beware!!! Thanks for the tip though.

sorry man :( I did my thunder tiger buggy rims and didn't have any problems like that at all. But I did mine in a toaster oven instead of a standard oven. But that shouldn't matter... 250 is 250. interesting.

Just noticed you're in Cleveland... suburb or cleveland itself?

:devious: I tried to get some v-grove 26mm radials but hpi is "out of stock" ... do you konw of any other places I can get dem:ponder2:
