OK, so i took the restrictor out of my GT2 and made all of the adjustments and followed the instructions on this site ( http://www.rc10.com/racerhub/techhelp/techgteng.htm#10 ). Fueled it up and it fired on the first pull! Now for my issues.

1) Under brake it's stalling no matter how i adjust it and it also requires my throttle trim to be turned up almost all the way to run.

2) WOT runs fine, sorta. After about 100ft of WOT it sounds like it leans out, gets a huge burst in speed and then dies unless i let off and bump the throttle to keep it running.

I need help pls before this long haired hippie goes bald!

Take off your air filter so you can look into the carb throat. Turn the throttle trim on your radio all the way down to zero.
Hold the trigger in the full brake position and set the idle screw till the carb is open 1-2 mm.
That should cure your stalling at brake condition.
Start it, warm it up, then drive it. Let us know how it runs from a dead stop.

Rolex your the man! Going to go outside now and make the adjustments....be back in about 20 mins :)

BTW, can't set the throttle trim all the way down though...creates brake drag then :(

Then you also have to make a mechanical adjustment to your brake linkage.
I need to know the dead stop take off to determine if you need to adjust the LSN. For your WOT, lean the HSN a little at a time till it improves.

ok, got the brake working now...BUT now when i let off the brake it want to race off at idle :( Havent made a actual run yet cause of that.

If you have yahoo i can chat there, i'm on the laptop outside with it as we speak.

I dumped yahoo several months ago. Sorry.
You now need to set the idle screw lower till it idles without engaging or chattering the clutch.

EDIT: I'm trying to stay with this thread while working on something else, so you'll have to refresh or reload to see if I've posted.

ok, take off from dead stop to WOT is a touch sluggish. Richened the HSN and that seemed to clean up that "lean out". I'm guessing that the take off is too lean? Either way, I'm done for the night, it's dusk here and the neighbors are rolling thier eyes, LOL. Will be back at it first thing in the afternoon. IF anyone lives in or near York, PA that can lend some hands on help (i learn better that way) I would very much apreciate it.

Thanks Rolex, I apreciate the help BIG time!

If your take off is sluggish, your LSN is too rich. Start to lean it a little at a time till you get good punch. Keep an eye on the temp. Adjust the HSN for WOT.
You're almost there. Hang in. Let me know tomorrow.

Bro your the best! Will do and again...THANKS!

Hey Rolex :) Just got back from my LHS and grabbed a few things. Mind if I pick your brain a min? Should be easy for you. I got a fresh gallon of 20% Top Fuel (They wanted $17 for a quart of Odonel's!) since everyone said to stop running the 33% and also I have a replacement glow plug here. The new glow plug is a Traxxas 3230 (long-hot) plug and it's about 1 1/2 to 2 threads longer than my original plug. Will this affect the tune with the lower nitro mix and a long plug? I havent fired the rig up just yet, thought i'd ask before i made the change over.

Thanks again bro, you been great!

Just be careful, there's not much left.

Any time you change % of nitro, you need to do a mini break in. The engine will run at a different temp, since the firing timing will change.
Start it, and drive it in slow circles just to keep it running, and check the temp. When you turn it off, put the piston at the bottom of the stroke and let it cool down completely before starting it again. You'll only need to run about 3 tanks, and during the 3rd tank we can start getting it tuned for performance.

any ideas about that glow plug? it'll be ok to run I hope. Not sure of your time zone but I'll do the "mini" break-in in a few hours, prolly about 3ish my time (that's in about 2 hours). Trying to catch up on some work before I start playing.

I'm not sure about the 'long' plug. We'll need someone else to chip in with that info.
We're in the same time zone, but I've got some running to do myself, so I'll check back later.

ok, be safe and chat with you later.

I'm back and just finished the first tank of 20% and WOW what a difference! It seems to have more torque now for some reason. The tune is going nicely BUT I think something broke. The sound of the engine has changed and now i have what looks like a leak coming from somewhere around where the exhaust connects to the engine. I been taking temps but they are not consistent. sometimes i'll get a 240-250 reading, other times it'll read 280ish. I REALLY wish I had someone local to help, lol.

Sorry to hear of new problems just when it was getting good.
You'll need to find out why it's leaking. It might just be a matter of cleaning and sealing the back plate. As long as there's a leak, you can't get a good tune.

Sorry for the delayed response, had an issue at work that needed taken care of. I pulled the engine and cleaned it up and i'm 85% sure it's from where the exhaust connects to the motor (backplate?). I'm guessing the leak is also the reason for the temps floating all over the place? I tried that long plug and forget that idea, it threw my timing WAY out, so bad that no mater if I leaned it out or richened it up, I could not accel without it dying imediately. Anyhow, what can i use to seal that backplate?

Thanks
