going backward when forward

i changed the main gear of my duratrax warhead (because i broke it in a crash) and replaced it with a steel one (at least the teeth).

Everything is fine....well...amlmost: when I go backward no problem - when i switched to forward, fro time to time it still goes backward. When it does decide to finally goes forward, it runs and accelerates well...then i brake...and it goes backward again !
i checked inside but i can't really tell what's wrong ?
any help is appreciated

You need to adjust your shift linkage.

I would check where you set the neutral position of your servo. You can adjust it using the buttons or knobs on your Tx.

True, center it, then make sure you get the full stroke in either direction. You must also be at a complete stop to ensure a complete 'seating' of the gear when you shift.

And check that your tune is proper, because shifting from forward to reverse requires a low idle.
