Thats sweet looking Tom:bow:

I'm close behind...I got the Brushless waiting to install along with the same servo on order. I figured I would upgrade the steering since I had to order a shifter servo anyhow.

Hey Guys,

Sorry I wasn't on this weekend. It was one heck of a busy one! I did get a chance to run this thing, and all I have to say is wow! I can flip the thing on its lid in reverse. This motor has so much torque it is hard to keep the front wheels on the ground. Didn't break anything, but I did add a few more dents and scratches to the lid though! Oh.. I take it back.. I did bend up a body clip! LOL I do know how now why the MIP CVD's and RRP gears are necessary if you go BL. The amount of power this mill is putting out is just amazing.

My steering is a bit tight so I have to do some investigating to see what is binding things up.

Hey PSUNitro, right now I am using SMC 4200 6 Cell packs. I plan on moving up to 7 cells, but right now they are a bit expensive for my taste right now.

Hey SVORay.... what steering setup did you end up going with? Good luck with your build... it is a blast!

Thanks for asking guys... I barely got through one pack this weekend, which stunk... but at least I got a chance to get it dirty! Take care guys.

Hitec 645 for steering and 2018 ( stock) for shifting.

I'm having second thoughts about installing this motor...we're still running the stock gears lol

Sounds like you had fun with this beast. Enjoy it. Some of us aren't lucky enough to the time to build such a wonderful toy.

Sounds like you had a blast man. All I can say is make a VIDEO!!!

Thanks guys,

I think I will have fun with it. It is nice to have something to bash around the yard with and not make much noise, which is how this project started in the first place. Hamz... I am very lucky to have the time to work on something like this, although the time happened to be from 9pm to 1:30 am a few times. LOL I think I am done with projects for a while though. Spring and summer are on there way and that means yard work, and farm work so time will be at a premium. Not to mention most of my free time will be spent with the family. Come next winter though...... it is a whole new ball game, complete with a new project. Take care guys.

Nice build Tom! Did you settle on a wheel offset?

Thanks Sweet D..... I have settled on the 1/2 inch offset. The extra bit of high speed stability is worth the sacrifice in turning radius. I have not however decided on a set of rubber. This will only be a basher so I need to find a good maxx size tire for a variety of surfaces. Any suggestions? Thanks my friend.

Tom

I have purchased... well ordered a set of 17mm Beadlocks with the 1/2 inch offset, plus the aluminum adapters. I have also purchased a set of Proline Badlands MT's to go with them. I am not sure I made the best decision on the rubber, but I was looking for a great bashing tire and given my choices I thought that would be the best. I will post some pics once I have them mounted.

I converted my emaxx to 17mm as well so it can share tires/wheels with my truggy. I thing the badlands are a great bashing tire and look cool to boot.

I’m sure you noticed that 1st gear is useless with the brushless set-up and you basically need to leave it in 2nd gear all the time. Last night I installed the gorillamaxx single speed conversion for the tranny. It cuts the tranny housing in half and eliminates a bunch of parts. Makes the tranny silky smooth. I will post pics of the assembly and parts I removed tonight if I have time.

Hey Rob,

Yes, I have found that 1st gear is absolutely useless. Unless I want to flip the truck over at quarter throttle. I am looking at my options for a single speed setup given the fact I am still running the factory chassis. I am looking forward to your pics. I wonder if the Gmaxx single speed will work for me?

Anyway... thanks for the info on the Badlands... I think they look cool as well. I was thinking the same thing by converting to the 17mm adapters... I could use the wheel\tire combos from the CRT. The Emaxx is my basher anyway so I think it should all work out. If only I knew the Integy MSR5's were junk before I bought them.... Then look beefy and are silky smooth.... I thought I had a winner.

Tom

The gmaxx single speed will work fine on the stock chassis. You just end up using half the mounting holes to attach the smaller tranny to the chassis.

Sweet! I think I found my next hopup!

I wish I had gotten the gmaxx single speed route right from the start. Like you, I bought 2 UE steel idler gears because that’s what the stock tranny required. With the gmaxx single speed conversion, you will only use 1 idler gear. If I had known that at the time, I could have only bought one idler gear from UE and used the $$ saved on the 2nd one towards the conversion kit. Those idler gears were expensive. Now I have a back-up idler gear although I can't imagine one of those would go.
