Hot you run when its cold outside and cold you run when its hot. I think thats it. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Also look at short and long...

the temp of your plug is not that closely related to outside temp. you pick the plug that makes the most power for your engine without flaming out or detonating. most engines run well with a medium plug. a few run well with a hot plug, and even fewer run well with a cold plug.

as a general rule of thumb, if your tuning is correct, and your head shims are right, but your engine still runs hot, a hot plug will make it run cooler. the opposite is also true. if your engine runs cool, a cold plug will bring the temp up. THIS SHOULD NOT BE USED AS A BAND-AID FOR POOR TUNING! most people will not need to use this trick. for 99% of the people out there a medium plug with thier best tuning job is all they will need.

if you tell us what kind of motor you have then we can probably give you a hint or two on which plugs work good for that motor.

Thats what I thought also, I ran a hot plug and it brought my temps up a good 20-30 degrees at least...

this is because your engine was probibly detonating. what % fuel were you using, was the head properly shimmed, did you retune for the plug?

i have thestock mgt motor which is a TT .21 Pro and my Lhs guys gave me a cold plug to try and i think it works better then before!
