I recently got a new Exceed Forza .18 buggy and the stock glow plug died so I put in an MC-59 plug that the hobby shop gave me, but it's a tad to long, and I'm pretty sure I hear it bumping against the piston. Is this really bad, or is it okay until I get a new one? The car still runs, but I just hear the noise. which leads me to...
What kind of glow plug should I get that's short? It's around 70 degrees around here and I have 20% fuel, so I'm thinking a medium to hot plug?:\

I can't give you any advice on what to use, but if you think the glow plug is hitting the piston, definitely do not run that motor until you get the proper length plug. You can break the coil off the glow plug and that fine piece of metal will do some harm to the motor.

You sure it's too long or are you missing the copper washer/gasket that sits between the plug and the button (where the plug screws into)? A MC-59 should work just fine for just about any engine. An OS A-3 is a bit shorter, but it's a hot plug (if memory serves).

oooo. ya, i forgot, the washer fell out and i lost it.... stupid me.

will another washer work, or does it have to be the copper one?

A copper one is best. Doesn't have to be one from that specific plug, though. If you try to rig something with a traditional washer, it may cause more harm.

As Mr. Clean alluded to, though, don't run it until you get the washer. In addition to possibly hitting the piston head, you're creating an air leak which will lean it out and cause the engine to overheat.

usually when you buy a new plug it comes with a new washer or at least my traxxas plug did, I would use the right washer just to be safe...
