this is probably a stupid question, but i will ask anyway. I have a kyosho gx12 which i am having problems starting, everything seems fine, fuel, red glow wire, primed etc, but it still wont start no matter how many times i yank the start cord. I have just noticed that i have 2 different lengths of glow plug attached to my service tool. can someone please tell me if using the shorter glow could cause the problem, and would it make any difference, or cause a problem using the longer plug. Failing this, any other suggestions.

I think that it the lengths make a difference in the compression that the engine has. IMO a longer glow plug should give it higher compression and a shorter glow plug should give it less compression. Are either of the plugs the same as what came in it from the factory?

You might also want another opinion from a more experienced Nitro user.

I don't know what plug came with it as i got it from a friend who hadn't kept any instructions.

thanks for the replies, very helpful. One other question, my friend has the same engine (although older than mine) and when running the fuel needle is only opened 1/2 a turn, (to me it is still running rich as there is a lot of residue left from the exhaust), is 1/2 a turn workable or is some other tuning required.

i am at my wits end with this engine, i have tried everything. I have got a good red glow at the plug, their is fuel getting to the carb and yet even when puting fuel into the combustion chamber under the glow plug, it still will not fire.
