Glow plug broken?

How do you know when the glow plug is done?
I took it out and put the igniter on it and the tip did not burn, but the inside of the plug did. I can't see any broken wire but who knows.
help

Hi!! if the wire doesn't light-up all the way to the tip bright red, you most likely have a dead plug.

I think it's normal. Mine does this and I can get my car started.

I am with Boutch, replace the glow plug.

I can only be 99.99999% sure when I replace it and the new one works the way I expect it to...plugs can look perfect to the eye but just not have enough heat to fire the engine.....do yourself a favor and buy 3-4 plugs...get 2 med 1 hot 1 cold plug.......tuning doesn't end with needle settings my friends....
